COMMISSIONPOLICY <br />Section:Category: <br />GovernanceDelegation to Management Policies <br />Policy Reference:Policy Title: <br />G.4e3WaterServices <br />PURPOSE: <br />With this policy, the Commission sets forth its expectations for the General Manager concerning <br />theprovision ofwaterserviceswithpractical safeguarding of persons, buildings and their <br />contents from hazards arising from the use of water service. <br />POLICY: <br />Consistentwith the Core Customer Services Policy, the ERMU Commission expects the <br />General Manager to ensure that customers receive safe, reliable, cost effective and quality <br />long term waterutility servicethat directly and mission as <br />stated in the Organizational Core PurposePolicyand Mission StatementPolicy. <br />TheERMU Commission expects the General Manager toestablishprocesses,procedures, and <br />management policywhich clearly define theterms for providingwaterservice. <br />Consistent with this general statement, the General Manager shall: <br />1.Establish policy and procedures forthe provision ofwaterserviceswhichare compliant with <br />applicable rules, regulations, standards, code,and lawincluding but not limited to the <br />following: <br />a.ERMU shall operatein compliancewith drinking water quality standards establishedby <br />the Environmental Protection Agency(EPA)that are authorized through the Safe <br />Drinking Water Act (SDWA). Additionally, ERMU shall operate in compliance with <br />these drinking water quality standards consistent with theirinterpretation and <br />enforcement by the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH). <br />b.ERMUshall design and maintain thewater production and distribution system consistent <br />with American Water Works Association (AWWA) standards. <br />c.All connected water servicesshallbe required to comply withthe Minnesota Building <br />Code and theMinnesota Plumbing Code as adopted intoordinanceby the council. <br />______________________________________________________________________________ <br />Page 1of2 <br />149 <br />
