Employees are expected to return from General Leave when the reason for the leave expires. Employees <br />who take a General Leave have no right to reinstatement. <br />Voting and Election Judge Leave <br />Per state statute, employees eligible to vote has the right to be absent from work for the time necessary to <br />appear at the employee's polling place, cast a ballot and return to work on election day without penalty or <br />deduction from salary or wages because of the absence. The city or other person may not directly or <br />indirectly refuse, abridge, or interfere with this right or any other election right of an employee. <br />An election means a regularly scheduled state primary or general election, an election to fill the vacancy in <br />the office of United States Senator, United States Representative, State Senator or State Representative, <br />or a Presidential Primary. <br />State statute also provides for employees to have paid time off to serve as an election judge with at least <br />twenty (20) days advance written notice. The city will reduce the employee's pay by the amount paid to <br />serve as an election judge. <br />Administrative Leave <br />Under special circumstances, an employee may be placed on an administrative leave pending the outcome <br />of an internal or external investigation. The leave may be paid or unpaid, depending on the <br />circumstances, as determined by the city administrator. <br />29 <br />
