<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />September 4, 1956 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was called to order by Mayor Schwartz on <br />September 4, 1956. All members were present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />Mr. Dewey Mattson, Asst. Dist. Engineer of the State Highway Department was present in regard to <br />getting approved of work to be done on a section of Highway No. 10 in the Village. Also agreement <br />with Village not to allow any encroachment upon right of way of Highway No. 10 in the Village. <br />Resolution to this effect were proposed by Dan Bailey and seconded by August Meyer. Upon being <br />put to a roll call vote the resolution passed all members voting in favor. Copier of these resolutions <br />on forms 2522 and 2523 are on file with the Village Clerk. <br /> <br />A delegation representing the Surf Aces with Morris Wilson as spokesman were present at the <br />meeting. They about regulations regarding motor boats and water skiing on the lake on the Wexler <br />property now belonging to the Village. The Council made it know there would no doubt be a <br />swimming beach on the property but that nothing would be done to interfere with the boating and <br />skiing any more than necessary. <br /> <br />Marshall Oliver Nickerson reported that he has trouble with teenagers driving cars in the Village and <br />that too many are driving cars to school. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Dow and seconded by Briggs to allow the State permission to use grant St. <br />as a detour while repairing R.R. Crossing on Highway 169. Carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Dow to trade the old truck for a 1952 tractor and <br />pay the difference of $475.00. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Meyer to Authorize Lester Derr to have a power lift <br />put on the new truck. Carried. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed and ordered paid: <br />Star News – Printing $8.25 <br />Hettrick Bros. – Gas and oil $25.06 <br />Farm Bureau – Gas and oil $5.70 <br />Postmaster – Postage $5.00 <br />Geo. Moos – Police $179.00 <br />Miller – Davis – Blanks $7.36 <br />N.W. Bell – Telephone $10.45 <br />John E. MacGibbon – Services $33.18 <br />Carole Dwyer – Asst. Librarian $8.00 <br />Dale Kramer – Janitor $5.00 <br />Anthony Burgoyne – Hauling $37.50 <br />Star News – Printing $20.15 <br />Caley Hardware – Mdse. $20.24 <br />Rosewald-Cooper – Paint $38.50 <br />Marshall-Wells – Mdse. $2.10 <br />August Leider – Labor $178.28 <br /> <br />
