<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />April 4, 1949 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on April 4, 1949. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Oscar Odegard, Mayor; Emil Parent, Dan Bailey, R.A. Ellingson, Trustees; H.A. <br />Briggs <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Odegard. The minutes of the last meetings were read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />Mr. Edw. Schwartz was present and filed an application for building permit. He also asked for an <br />extension of Line Street and also asked for a 150 foot extension of the sewer along his property. Mr. <br />Schwartz agreed to donate 66 feet for the street extension. The council agreed to have Less Derr <br />check on the street and the sewer. <br /> <br />Kenneth Mathuson and Lawrence Floodman were present and complained about the unsanitary <br />condition of the John Orton place. It was agreed to have Charles Nelson and Less Derr investigate <br />and order the place cleaned up. <br /> <br />Walfred Peterson asked for a driveway to his place in Upper Town and it was agreed to have it done. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Parent and seconded by Bailey to authorize a transfer of $500.00 from the <br />Liquor Fund to the Sewer Construction Fund. Carried. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Bailey and a second by Parent the following building permits were approved: <br />Helen Gray <br />Wm Anderson <br />Flaherty Bros <br />Edw. Schwartz <br /> <br />Trustee Bailey presented the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />Whereas, the Elk River Athletic Association, a non-profit corporation under the laws of Minnesota <br />has recently been organized in the Village of Elk River and in furtherance of its objectives has <br />acquired title to the following described land as a site for a lighted athletic field, trapshooting range <br />and for other recreational purposes; and whereas, said athletic association has offered to deed said <br />lands to the Village of Elk River as a park and recreational field to be held in trust by the village with <br />provision that upon said lands ceasing to be used for such public purpose, they are to revert to said <br />organization; and whereas, it is in the public interest that said lands be held in trust by said village as <br />a park and recreational field, <br />It is hereby resolved by the village council of the village of Elk River, Minnesota that said village <br />accept conveyance of the following described lands located in the County of Sherburne and State of <br />Minnesota; to wit; <br />That part of the west half of the northeast quarter of the Southwest quarter (W ½ of N.E. ¼ of <br />S.W. ¼) of Section 32, Township 33, Range 26, that lies south of the old trunk highway. <br /> <br /> <br />
