<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />September 11, 1947 <br /> <br />A special meeting was held at the Municipal Bldg on Sept 11, 1947. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Mayor Glenn Davidson, Elmer Leger, Walter L Johnson, R.A. Ellingson, Trustees; <br />H.A. Briggs, Clerk <br /> <br />A petition was presented by L.B. Forsyth signed by a numbers of persons in the north part of town <br />objecting to what they referred to as a junk yard being put in by Wesley Kluge some distance north <br />of the creamery building. The petition was taken under consideration. <br /> <br />Resolution <br />The village council of the Village of Elk River, County of Sherburne, State of Minnesota, being in <br />th <br />special session on the 11 day of September, 1947 all members being present. Councilman Ellingson <br />offered the following resolution and moved it’s adoption: <br /> <br />Whereas, the Village of Elk River is the owner of certain personal property situated in the outskirts <br />of Monticello, Minn. to-wit: <br />Eleven poles, eight down guys and one overhead guy formerly constituting part of the village’s <br />transmission line extending from the Northern States Power Company switch northeasterly along <br />the Monticello-Big Lake Read to the River Road to Elk River as shown on the plat attached to Bill <br />of Sale. <br /> <br />Whereas, said property is of no further use to the Village of Elk River and <br />Whereas, the Northern States Power Company has offered the Village of Elk River the sum of two <br />hundred thirty-two dollars and eighty-eight cents ($232.88) for the property. <br /> <br />It is hereby resolved by the Village Council of the Village of Elk River to transfer to the Northern <br />States Power Company by bill of sale the above described property and that the president of the <br />Village Council and the Village Clerk are authorized to execute a bill of sale to the Northern Sates <br />Power Company upon their complying with the term of their offer. <br /> <br />This motion was seconded by Councilman Leger and put to a vote all members voting in favor. <br /> <br />Three more applications were received for Village Marshall; Wheeler Spain, James Thomas and Roy <br />Moos. <br /> <br />No bids were received for car for Marshall. <br /> <br />One bid was received for shovel for sewer work, Rootes and Johnson offered to furnish a new ¾ <br />yard shovel at $8.50 per hr. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Leger and seconded by Ellingson to accept Rootes and Johnson’s bid for the <br />shovel if we need it. Carried. <br /> <br /> <br />
