Hopefully, <br />before this is all done, I will have had the opportunity to go before the city council to air my <br />concerns in person. And after having had a chance to look at the plans for the first time today <br />I have even more concerns. Here is just a short list: <br />1.Parking. A building of this size requires 150 parking spaces. The plans show 120 parking <br />spaces. Two spaces for each unit. What happens when they have visitors? Where will <br />the overflow parking go? <br />2.It appears there are two driveways into the parking lot. One next to the daycare and <br />one that goes directly through my parking lot. My tenant in our building is The Noble <br />Quilter. The average age of their customer is 70+. This traffic coming and going would <br />be a hazard to both of our businesses, Pearle Vision and The Noble Quilter. <br />3.In the winter, when they are plowing the snow in the parking lots for the apartment <br />complex the tenants will be required to move their cars. Where are they going to put <br />them? Most likely in my parking lot and the surrounding neighborhood. How is my lot <br />going to be plowed? <br />4.What will happen to the value of my building when I have an apartment complex <br />connected to my parking lot? I have invested time and money in my business with the <br />promise this would be a retail center not high-density housing. <br />5.The apartment complex is far too big for this space. Three stories tall! It will dominate <br />everything in the surrounding area. The look and the feel of the center will change <br />dramatically. It will be the focus of Elk Ridge Center. Not just another part of the <br />Center. It will be the center. <br />These are just a few of my concerns.
