City of Marion, Iowa <br />Comprehensive Plan & <br />Zoning Ordinance Update <br />The update to the Marion, Iowa Comprehensive <br />Plan came approximately ten years after <br />the last adopted plan and had the goal of <br />defining growth boundaries and planning for <br />a projected increase in population. Houseal <br />Lavigne Associates led a process that <br />included extensive citizen involvement, visioning, <br />development of a growth strategy, brownfield <br />site redevelopment recommendations, and <br />detailed subarea plans for the City's distinct <br />neighborhoods. The Plan prioritized "place - <br />making" to ensure Historic Uptown and the <br />City's neighborhoods were attractive and <br />inviting, creating an enhanced quality of life <br />and community character for all areas. The <br />Plan also included a gateways plan and street <br />cross sections analysis and recommendations <br />to further establish an enhanced community <br />aesthetic. <br />Houseal Lavigne Associates also worked <br />with the City of Marion to update the zoning <br />ordinance.
