Sherburne County Multi -Hazard Mitigation Plan, 2020 <br />We would also like to look at storm shelter options for local campgrounds and RV parks. <br />Obtain Changeable Message Boards to relay information to the public. Minimum needed would <br />be 2, but 4 would provide a higher level of service during severe weather or disaster events. <br />Obtain a "Road Closure" Trailer. This trailer would be equipped all necessary equipment, signs, <br />safety equipment and barricades necessary for an emergency road closure. This trailer could be <br />attached to any public works or sheriff truck at a moment's notice ready for deployment. <br />Ensure that our COOP emergency plan is up to date and current. <br />Participate in Hazard/Mitigation planning events and learn from those experiences. <br />Part B: Local Mitigation Capabilities Assessment <br />1. What plans, authorities, or policies are in place to help accomplish mitigation in your <br />community? The county has both a Long Range Transportation Plan and a 5 Year Capital <br />Improvement Plan that identifies road improvement projects. <br />Right of Way Permits and permit process for utilities that occupy our public road right of way. <br />Snow and Ice Control procedures. <br />Tree trimming and/or removal within the Right -of -Way. <br />Storm Water Pollution Prevention Program (SWPPP) and Ordinance. <br />Right of Way Ordinance. <br />We have a 3o-year Comprehensive Land Use plan that goes out to 2030, but is scheduled for <br />updating in 2020. <br />The County Zoning Ordinance includes all unincorporated areas of the County except Becker <br />Township and a portion of Haven Township. This ordinance is continually updated as rules <br />change and if issues are anticipated. <br />The County has a Floodplain Ordinance that exists in the Zoning Ordinance. We participate in <br />the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). <br />The County Zoning Department has agreements with several townships for satellite offices in <br />the event of a disaster that prevents the use of the government center office or if it is necessary <br />for us to locate closer to a disaster event for convenience to landowners or for necessity for <br />structural inspections of damaged structures. <br />Page I K - 4 <br />
