From: Terry Lundby
To: Carlton. Zachary
Subject: [EXTERNAL] Pines at Elk River LLC Case No P 20-03
Date: Tuesday, April 28, 2020 1:30:19 PM
Honorable members of the Planning Commission,
While I realize that the growth of Elk River is inevitable and for the good of all I do have
concerns with the Pines at Elk River LLC development proposal.
I live on the frontage of 5th Street NW. This street connects Twin Lakes Road via Line Ave.
with northbound Highway 169.
Since the re-routing of Line Ave and the denial of access to Main St. from Baldwin Av.
around 12 years ago, 5th Street NW. is the traffic bearing road of the area.
Fifth St. NW bears the traffic from Nowthen and eastern Elk River to and from northern 169.
In twenty years at this location I have seen and hear 5th St. turn into an acceleration lane for
teenagers driving modified pickups with extremely loud exhaust pipes to 60+ Boomers on
Motorcycles with extremely loud exhaust pipes.
My concern with this new development is increased traffic, the attendant danger from speeders
and the nuisance of pointless noise, up to 90 db.
Has the Planning Commission considered these issues in its deliberations? If so, has it any
plans to mitigate these issues?
My hope is that the Planning Commission will not only address my concerns but act positively
as well.
Sincerely,
Terry Lundby
520 Auburn Pl. Apt. B
Elk River, MN. 55330
