Our dream home is in the Tall Pines development on 183rd Circle. We had been thinking
about downsizing to a townhome for a few years but my being diagnosed with rheumatoid
arthritis last year was the push we needed to finally make the leap. After 37 years in our single
family home in Coon Rapids my husband was not excited by the thought of common walls,
possibly noisy neighbors, postage sized lots and large maintenance fees. My doctor told me I
was five to 10 years away from not being able to do stairs so I kept pushing to get us out of
our family home asap.
We found the Tall Pines development through a listing that our real estate agent had set up
for us. We walked through the model, which was well above our price range, and then we
walked through the house we decided to buy while it was under construction. It's a beautiful
slab home, absolutely no stairs, not even to get into the home! We had capped our purchase
price at $300,000 or less. We say we don't want to lose a spouse and then the house, so we
were keeping costs manageable for one of us to stay when the other one passes on. We are so
excited, we found a wonderful home on a nice sized lot. We got a lot of our wish list items,
upgraded cabinets, granite countertops, luxury vinyl plank flooring and a beautiful open
concept home with a vast vaulted ceiling and we will have a fireplace for the first time in our
lives. Best of all it's a small community of mostly retired people. We loved that it isn't a vast
development of 200 or 300 homes. We love the fact that it's small and quiet yet so close to
Highway 10 and 169.
We feel very fortunate that we found our new development. It's hard to find a single level
home on a private lot in a reasonable price range. Please know that finding a nice detached
townhome in small development was not an easy task. We were looking for months and we
are now looking forward to spending our retirement nestled into our quiet neighborhood
knowing that all the services we require as we age are all close by.
I'm sorry this got so long, can you tell I'm a little excited? Thank you for your time, please keep
adding quality developments for people like us.
Thanks again,
Ellen Carlson
2231 112th Ln NW
