REC – Renewable Energy Credit or Certificate – The instrument that electricity <br />consumers use to substantiate renewable electricity use claims. Because energy <br />from different sources enters the same grid, a REC is used to represent the property <br />rights to the environmental, social, and other non-power attributes of renewable <br />electricity generation. <br /> <br />89. RES – Renewable Energy Standard – A requirement established in individual states <br />for utility companies to source a certain amount of the energy they generate or sell <br />from renewable sources. <br /> <br />90. RFI – Request For Information – A solicitation document used to obtain general <br />information about products, services, or suppliers. It is an information request, not <br />binding on either the supplier or the purchaser, and is often used prior to specific <br />requisitions for items. <br /> <br />91. RFP – Request For Proposal – A document that announces and provides details <br />about a project, as well as solicits bids from contractors who may be selected to <br />complete the project. <br /> <br />92. RICE – Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engine – An engine that uses reciprocating <br />pistons to convert heat energy into mechanical work <br /> <br />93. ROW – Right Of Way – A legal right of passage that allows someone the right to <br />travel across property owned by someone else. Land within the right-of-way is <br />reserved for public use. This may be used for public streets, sidewalks, alleys, <br />utilities, etc. <br /> <br />94. RP3 – Reliable Public Power Provider – An American Public Power Association electric <br />utility designation based on industry-recognized leading practices in four important <br />disciplines: Reliability, Safety, Workforce Development, and System Improvement. <br />ERMU has held the RP3 designation since 2012. <br /> <br /> <br />95. RPZ – Reduced Pressure Zone – Is a type of backflow prevention device used to <br />protect the water supply from contamination. RPZs are the most secure and reliable <br />of all backflow prevention. This device is typically used in commercial applications. <br /> <br />96.
