I. Assists in maintaining department equipment. <br /> J. Works in an advisory and technical role with other agencies as assigned to develop <br /> maximum cooperation and efficient use of investigative resources. <br /> K. Shares information with appropriate departmental personnel and other agencies. <br /> L. Maintains community relations through public speaking, exhibits, tours and various <br /> programs. <br /> 3. Serves as school liaison. <br /> A. Serves as primary participant and first line supervisor in school liaison program. <br /> B. Attends special school functions as requested by school officials. <br /> C. Presents safety programs and demonstrations. <br /> D. Makes routine visits to the schools on a daily basis. <br /> E. Manages, schedules, and participates in school extra-curricular functions. <br /> 4. Performs investigative duties. <br /> A. Conducts investigation of complaints as assigned,including identification, collection, <br /> and preservation of evidence. <br /> B. Locates and gathers information from informants, suspects, experts,victims, and <br /> witnesses. <br /> C. Takes statements for use in developing the investigation. <br /> D. Makes arrests or forwards for complaint as justified by facts developed. <br /> E. Develops complete and concise oral and written reports as assigned by the <br /> Administrative Captain or Police Chief and in response to the direction of the <br /> prosecutors. <br /> F. Maintains complete and accurate notes and files on investigations. <br /> G. Provides complete and credible testimony in court. <br /> H. Assists prosecuting attorney in development of case. <br /> I. Becomes familiar with criminals and criminal suspects and their likely location. <br /> J. Participates in the on-call detective schedule. <br /> 5. Manages crime scenes. <br /> A. Serves in a supervisory role at crime scenes. <br /> B. Directs other law enforcement personnel at the scene. <br /> C. Secures the scene and directs others;promptly collects and secures evidence. <br /> D. Assists victims and other innocent parties involved. <br /> E. Initiates investigation and apprehension of individuals as appropriate. <br /> 6. Performs community education/relations activities. <br /> A. Instructs public on crime prevention. <br /> B. Directs, supervises, or conducts public safety presentations in schools,hospitals, and <br /> other public places. <br /> C. Directs and develops public safety materials and programs. <br /> D. Disseminates printed public safety and crime prevention information. <br /> 7. Performs patrol duties. <br /> A. Performs patrol and traffic enforcement duties as directed. <br /> B. Responds to emergency and non-emergency situations as directed. <br /> C. At the direction of the Police Chief,remains available to assists in all other aspects of <br /> police work. <br /> 8. Performs other essential job duties. <br /> A. Regular and timely work attendance. <br /> B. Follows all safety procedures. <br /> C.
