<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />August 7, 1939 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg Monday Aug 7, 1939 at 8 <br />o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Frank Nickerson, Pres.; G.A. Bailey, Wm Patenaude, and Geo Cornelius, Trustees; <br />Wm H Greupner, Clerk <br /> <br /> The minutes of last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />L.G. Nelson, Gordon Johnson, D.E. Davis and M.C. Tesch, representing the Sherburne County <br />Fair Association came before the Council and asked for an appropriation to help with the expenses <br />of the Fair. A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Geo Cornelius to allow the Fair board <br />$125.00 for expenses. Motion carried. <br /> <br />After some discussion a motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by G.A. Bailey to add <br />another street light on Minnesota Street. The new light to be put in front of the L.D. Bailey home <br />and the light that is there now to be moved down in front of the Henry Olson home. <br /> <br />Trustee Bailey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption. <br /> <br />Resolution <br />A Resolution accepting offer of the Elk River Power Light Co. to furnish electrical current for <br />pumping and street lights for a period of five years. <br /> <br />Whereas the Elk River Power and Light Co has agreed to furnish current to the Village for its <br />requirements for electional energy for pumping and street lights at the rates and under the <br />conditions of ordinance No. 32 for a period of five years. <br /> <br />Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Village Council of the Village of Elk River, Sherburne County, <br />Minn. That this Council hereby accepts the aforesaid offer and agrees to purchase for a period of <br />five years from the date hereof all electrical current required for pumpling and street lights in said <br />Village. <br /> <br />Adopted by the Village Council, Aug 7. 1939. Nickerson <br />Clerk Pres <br /> <br />Trustee Cornelius seconded the motion to adopt said resolution and upon roll call it was adopted by <br />the following votes: <br />Ayes – Frank Nickerson, G.A. Bailey, Geo Cornelius, Wm Patenaude, Wm H Greupner <br />Nayes – none <br /> <br />A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by Wm H Greupner to allow a building permit to <br />Roy Ellingson for a house and Merton Foley a garage. <br /> <br />
