16. Misuse of Utilities resources. <br /> 17. Any other behavior unacceptable to Utilities management or any conduct <br /> inconsistent with the policies in this Handbook or the rules, practices or standards <br /> of the Utilities. <br /> All employees have a personal responsibility to report any behaviors or practices that <br /> may constitute unacceptable conduct under this policy. Such conduct may risk our future <br /> success. If you have any concerns or questions, discuss them with the Human Resources <br /> Representative, your supervisor or any Utilities manager. These concerns will be treated <br /> confidentially (to the extent possible) and with high priority. <br /> 7. ETHICS, GIFTS AND CONFLICTS OF INTEREST <br /> Utilities employees shall not use their official position for personal gain, engage in any <br /> business or transaction or have a financial interest, direct or indirect, which is in conflict <br /> with the proper performance of their official duties. Utilities employees must <br /> scrupulously avoid any activities that suggest a conflict of interest between their private <br /> interests and Utilities responsibilities. <br /> Employees shall not accept, either directly or indirectly, any money, property, gift, <br /> gratuity, reward, loan, fee, discount, or special consideration or special accommodation <br /> from any vendor or potential vendor to the Utilities or the City of Elk River, or that arises <br /> from or is offered because of their employment or any activity connected with their <br /> employment with the Utilities. <br /> 8. EMPLOYMENT OF RELATIVES <br /> It is generally the policy of the Utilities not to employ relatives or cohabitants of current <br /> employees or Utilities Commissioners. The purpose of this policy is to prevent conflicts <br /> of interest, the appearance of such conflicts, undue influence over an individual's <br /> employment, and distraction from workplace productivity and safety. Occasional <br /> exceptions may be made to this general policy for legitimate business reasons in the <br /> discretion of the Utilities; provided, however, that in no event will relatives or <br /> cohabitants be permitted to be in a direct reporting relationship at the Utilities. <br /> "Relative" for purposes of this policy includes parent, marital or non-marital domestic <br /> spouse, sibling, child and step-child, grandparent, grandchild, parent-in-law, a person for <br /> whom the employee is a legal guardian, first cousin, sibling-in-law, son/daughter-in-law, <br /> niece/nephew, and aunt/uncle. <br /> 9. WHISTLEBLOWERS <br /> Pursuant to Minn.
