For tracking purposes, a vehicle is assumed to be at idle if it's stationary for more than 60 <br /> seconds. The high proportion of idle time is a result of many vehicles doubling as field staff <br /> offices. There is a considerable part of the day when field staff are working on their computers <br /> or completing paperwork at jobsites, which requires them to leave the vehicle running either to <br /> use their equipment or for comfort in summer and winter. <br /> The comparison focused on the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), emission reductions, and fuel <br /> reductions.The TCO factors include calculations of operation and maintenance of internal <br /> combustion engines and drive train along with fuel costs. The assessment also recommends the <br /> number and types of EV chargers that are believed to be necessary to support the <br /> recommended fleet changes. The cost of charging equipment is not factored into the TCO.
