SECTION 01450-QUALITY CONTROL <br /> PART 1-- GENERAL <br /> 1.1 SCOPE OF TESTS <br /> A. All materials,equipment, installation,and workmanship included in this contract, if so required by the <br /> Engineer,shall be tested and inspected to prove compliance with the contract requirements. <br /> B. All tests and inspections shall be completed under the direct supervision of a licensed professional <br /> engineer. All tests and inspections shall be the responsibility as identified in the individual sections of these <br /> specifications and shall be reported directly to the Owner and Engineer. <br /> C. No tests specified herein shall be applied until the item to be tested has been inspected and approval given <br /> for the application of such tests. <br /> D. Tests and inspections shall include all those specified in the individual sections and shall be compensated in <br /> accordance with the individual sections. <br /> E. Tests and inspection, unless otherwise specified or accepted,shall be in accordance with the recognized <br /> standards of the industry. <br /> F. Soil compaction testing performed by the Owner is deemed to be for the convenience of the Owner for <br /> documentation of the progress and performance of the work. Soil compaction testing results will be made <br /> available to the Contractor. However,the Owner and Engineer make no representations that the number <br /> of tests taken will be sufficient to accurately characterize the condition of any trench,and the Contractor <br /> shall take any supplemental test it deems necessary to monitor its own performance. The Owner may,at <br /> its discretion,eliminate soil and compaction testing on any part or the entire project. The presence or <br /> absence of soil and compaction testing or the approval of the results thereof shall in no way reduce the <br /> Contractor's obligation to correct trench settlement as described in these Special Provisions. <br /> 1.2 FINAL TESTING AND START-UP <br /> A. If, under test,any portion of the work fails to fulfill the contract requirements and is altered, renewed or <br /> replaced,tests on that portion so altered, removed, replaced,together with all other portions of the work <br /> as are affected thereby, shall, if so required by the Engineer, be repeated within reasonable time and in <br /> accordance with the specified conditions and the Contractor shall pay to the Owner all reasonable expenses <br /> incurred by the Owner as a result of the carrying out of such tests. <br /> 1.3 TESTING AND LABORATORY SERVICES <br /> A. Independent Testing Laboratory <br /> 1. Where in the individual sections of this Specification,tests or inspections are required to be furnished <br /> by the Contractor by an independent testing laboratory,the Contractor shall employ and arrange for, <br /> at its expense,the services of an approved independent testing laboratory satisfactory to the Engineer <br /> to perform the testing utilizing recognized standard procedures and criteria. <br /> 2. If the project includes the MnDOT Schedule of Materials Control Section,the Contractor shall employ <br /> and arrange for,at its expense,the services of an approved independent testing laboratory satisfactory <br /> to the Engineer to perform the testing utilizing recognized standard procedures and criteria for all <br /> testing listed under Quality Control,Contractor,or Producer testing in the Schedule of Materials <br /> Control regardless of what the individual sections of this specification state. <br /> B. Reports and Certificates <br /> 1. The Contractor shall submit reports and certificates of all inspections and test to the Engineer in <br /> duplicate. The reports and certificates become the property of the Owner. <br /> C.
