June 5, 1972 Regular semi-monthly meeting <br /> <br /> <br />Councilman Tom Hudson stated that he would try this type of speaker on the squad car to <br />see if it would be ad~qaa~e, he also stated that he would check into the hook-up for the <br />radio remote for the Police Station. <br /> <br />Moved by Councilman Syring and seconded by Councilman Hudson authorizing the $500.00 <br />for the Elk River High School Band trip to Winnipeg for the Red River Band Festival and <br />an additional $250.00 to be used at the discretion from the Music Fund Account. Motion <br />unaminously carried by a vote of 3-0. <br /> <br />Bob Olson informed the Council that he has been offered another job but has declined it <br />because he would rather stay here in Elk River, he there fore at this time requests a <br />salary increase. <br /> <br />The Council tabled his request at this time to be review again at a later date. <br /> <br />Moved by Councilman Konop and seconded by Councilman Syring to accept the resignation of <br />Mrs. Joyce Meyer and approved the recommendation to appoint Mrs. Kendall (Jane) Houlton <br />to fill the unexpired term of Mrs Neyer. JVIotion unaminously carried by a vote of 3-0. <br /> <br />Moved by Councilman Syring and secondedbpy Councilman Hudson wuthorizing the transfer of <br />$6,900.00 from the Liquor Store Fund Account to the General Government Account. Motion <br />unaminously carried by a vote of 3-0. <br /> <br />The Clerk-Treasurer wa.s instructed to obtain from the Le~gue of Municipali~ies sample <br />ordinances provid~ng for and regulation the disposal of refuse and garbage, licensing <br />refuse and garbage collection within the Village. <br /> <br />The Council authorized the 2,500.00 dollars for the revamping of the Off Sale Store to a <br />semi-self serve type store. <br /> <br /> <br />Moved by Councilman Hudson and seconded by Countil Konop requesting the Sherburne County <br />Highway Department to install a red and yellow flashing light for the intersection of Main <br />Street and Highway 169. Motion unaminously carried by a vote of 3-0. <br /> <br />The Clerk-Treasurer was instructed to draft a letter to the Sherburne County Highway Dept. <br />requesting the flashing caution light installation. <br /> <br />//Moved by Councilman Syring and seconded by Councilman Hudson authorizing the expenditures <br />\//..Of. $150.00 for this year 1972 and $100.00 for last year 1971 to the Elk River Fire Department <br />for expense for 5 fireman to attend the State Fire Convention to be held in Grand Rapids <br />Minnesota. <br /> <br />The Clerk-Trea.sureS' was instructed to send letters to Burns, Ra~, and Elk River Townships <br />setting a deadline of Jui~/lst 1972 for receipt of the executed F~re Contracts. <br /> <br />The Council discussed the dedication and open house for the New Fire Station with Chief <br />Ll9Yd Barthel it was felt by the Council that the dates should be scheduledby the Fire <br />Department. <br /> <br />Moved by Councilman Syring and seconded by Councilman Konop to approve the list of <br />General Government bills for payment as presented.
