<br />D <br /> <br />D <br /> <br />~ <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Elk River Village Council was called to <br />order by Mayor Bartelt on Oct. 4, 1971 at 7:30 pm in the Council Room of the <br />Village Office Building. Members were present as follows: Mayor Bartelt and <br />Councilmen Hudson, Syring, Konop -and otto. <br /> <br />The minutes of the Sept. 20, 1971 regular meeting and the Sept. 28, 1971 special <br />meeting were read. An addition to the Sept. 28, 1971 special meeting as follows: <br />Agreeable by the Council not to schedule any motll. work hours for Police Officer <br />" Van Patten until matters are resolved. The minutes were then approved as read. <br /> <br />Sherman Sachs made application for renewal of his on and offsale 3.2 beer license <br />at Sachs Riverside Store. Referred to the Folice Chief for his recommendation. <br /> <br />CounCIlman Syring reported on the tax meeting that he attended. 1973 valuation <br />will be based on 100% of the value of the property and the mill rate will be <br />reduced by two thirds. Mobile Homes will be taxed as personal property. The <br />State has recommended an 25% increase in property valuation. The County Assessor <br />expects to hold to 20%. <br /> <br />Discussion with Mac Gibbon on the letter received from Sam Peterson, asking that <br />the Council reconsider and to rehire Larry Peterson as Village Clerk-Treasurer. <br />Mac Gibbon will answer lf~. Petersons letter asking on what medical testimony he <br />can 'give, that would assure the village that this illness will never return and <br />to advise him that Larry Peterson has a full time position at the High School, <br />that he voluntary submitted a resignation when in his normal condition and that <br />the Council has accepted it. <br /> <br />Moved by Councilman otto and seconded by Councilman Syring to accept the low bid <br />of the Antler Corporation for the construction of the fire station, The Antler <br />Corporation and their sub-contractors being judged responsible and competent by <br />the architect and authorizing the Mayor and the Deputy Clerk-Treasurer to enter <br />:!in to a contract with the Antler Corpn., in the amount of $94,523.00, subject to <br />final approval of the contract by the Village Attorney. Motion unaminously carried. <br /> <br />Councilman Syring reported the appraised value of the Gospodor property is $85,000.00. <br /> <br />Moved by Councilman Hudson and seconded ,by Councilman Syring, to call fora <br />referendum, authorizing a .5 l-'lill or maxilIium of $l,ooO.OO,.tax levy for advertising <br />purposes. lviotion unaminously carried. A copy of the resolution is attached. <br /> <br />Moved by Councilman Syring and seconded by Councilman Otto to amend the Sept. 7, <br />1971 resolution regarding fees for use of the aerial survey to readoas follows: <br />To charge a flat fee of $50.00 for each usuage regardless of plat size. Motion <br />unaminous ly carried. <br /> <br />Agreea~a by the Council that trees located on the boulevard in front of the 1st <br />National Bank property located at Main Street ani King Avenue, may be removed by <br />the property ownero <br />
