SECTION 02115-UNDERGROUND TANK REMOVAL <br /> PART 1-- GENERAL <br /> 1.1 SUMMARY <br /> A. This section covers the furnishing of all labor, materials,tools,equipment and performances of all work and <br /> services necessary or incidental to remove underground storage tanks as shown on the plans,as specified <br /> herein,and/or as specified by the Engineer. <br /> B. All work must be performed by a contractor licensed by the MPCA to conduct removal of underground <br /> storage tanks. No work shall be performed unless a certified supervisor is present. <br /> 1.2 METHOD OF MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT <br /> A. Tank removal shall be measured per EACH and paid at the unit price bid,and shall be compensation in full <br /> for pumping,excavating, removing,disposing and backfilling the tank in accordance with all requirements <br /> and regulations. <br /> 1.3 SPECIFICATION REFERENCES <br /> A. The regulations of the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH),the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency <br /> (MPCA)and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)shall govern all mitigation and <br /> abatement efforts,except as amplified herein. <br /> B. Mn/DOT Specification Section 3149 shall apply to all granular borrow,except as modified herein. <br /> C. Unless noted otherwise,the provisions in this section are in addition to the referenced specification. <br /> 1.4 SUBMITTALS <br /> A. The MPCA for Underground Storage Tank Ten-day Advanced Notice for Installation,Closure, Lining <br /> Inspection Tanks, Piping and Dispensers. <br /> B. The MPCA Notification/Change in Status for Underground Storage Tanks. <br /> C. Copies of the MPCA notifications shall be submitted to the Engineer and Owner at the time of submission to <br /> the agency. <br /> PART 2-- PRODUCTS <br /> 2.1 FILL MATERIAL <br /> A. Fill material shall be granular in nature,and shall meet the requirements for Granular Backfill as specified <br /> under MnDOT Specification 3149. <br /> PART 3-- EXECUTION <br /> 3.1 CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS <br /> A. PUMPING <br /> 1. The Contractor shall pump any remaining Leachate into tankers provided by the landfill <br /> B. NOTIFICATION <br /> 1. Whenever required,the Contractor shall submit the appropriate notifications to the MPCA and the <br /> MDH. <br /> 2. The Contractor shall send a copy of all MPCA and MDH submittals and responses to the Engineer. <br /> 3. These notifications may have fixed waiting periods that could delay the demolition/construction. <br /> C.
