Bid Item B-5: Remove Leachate Tank 1&3 <br /> (a) This item pertains to the removal and disposal of two existing leachate tanks,Tank 1 on the east <br /> side of the landfill and Tank 3 on the west side of the landfill. <br /> (b) All existing inflowing pipes must be rerouted to their proposed locations and all leachate and <br /> existing equipment must be removed prior to removal. <br /> (c) After removal,the holes are to be backfilled and compacted with fill salvaged from other <br /> construction excavations and from on-site borrow stockpiles, if needed. <br /> (d) Reference specification Section 02115—Underground Tank Removal <br /> 6. Bid Item B-7: Remove Bituminous Pavement <br /> (a) This item pertains to the removal of bituminous pavement in the main entry road of the landfill <br /> near Station 250+00. <br /> (b) This work must be scheduled so as to maintain traffic and not disrupt the normal operations of the <br /> landfill. <br /> (c) Reference specification Section 02220—Removing Pavement and Miscellaneous Structures. <br /> 8. Bid Item B-8: Salvage Electrical Controls <br /> (a) This item pertains to the salvaging of existing electrical controls and equipment for existing Tank 1 <br /> and Tank 3. <br /> (b) All salvaged equipment shall be delivered to an on-site location designated by the Owner. <br /> (c) Reference specification Section 02220—Removing Pavement and Miscellaneous Structures. <br /> 9. Bid Item B-9: Exploratory Excavation <br /> (a) This item pertains to determining the location of existing leachate lines via excavation and is only <br /> in effect where and when the need for exploratory excavation is determined by the Owner and <br /> Engineer. <br /> (b) Excavation that is incidental to other work items but which is also utilized for exploratory purposes <br /> shall not be subject to this pay item. <br /> (c) Reference specification Section 02210—Subsurface Investigation <br /> 10.
