Elk River <br /> Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br /> TO: FROM: <br /> ERMU Commission Mike Tietz—Technical Services Superintendent <br /> MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br /> May 14, 2019 6.1d <br /> SUBJECT: <br /> Staff Update <br /> ACTION REQUESTED: <br /> None <br /> DISCUSSION: <br /> • In April, the locating department had a total of 433 locate tickets consisting of six <br /> emergency tickets, 8 cancellations, 362 normal tickets, and 33 updated tickets. This is a <br /> 305% increase in the volume of tickets from the previous month. <br /> • Electrical technicians continue with updating the power bill, substation checks, <br /> disconnects/reconnects, dealing with customer meters, and off-peak issues. Staff <br /> continues to make progress on disconnecting A/C controllers. On April 25, the monthly <br /> run of Engines 1, 2, 3 & 4 was performed with no issues. <br /> • As a follow up to last month's American Public Power Agency(APPA) Safety Award, I <br /> have attached the 2018 Safety Awards of Excellence Annual Report. It should be noted <br /> that out of the 325 utilities that submitted their annual injury and illness incidence rate <br /> report forms to APPA, 113 participants received an award. With our incident rate of <br /> 2.46, we received a 3rd place award within Group D, which had 17 award recipients out <br /> of 59 participants. <br /> • Mapping department continues to enter GPS points and attribute points for all of our <br /> systems assets within the ESRI ArcView GIS system. We met with Power Systems <br /> Engineering to discuss our immediate needs for GIS integration into our Customer <br /> Information System. We also discussed database configuration/disaster recovery, and <br /> having them assist with the development of field applications for use by our field staff. <br /> • The VHF radio repeater was temporarily relocated to the Power Plant on April 23 in <br /> preparation for the upcoming Auburn Water Tower reconditioning project. We have a <br /> vendor coming in on May 15 to help us with development of a communications needs <br /> assessment. <br /> Page 1 of 2 <br /> 396 <br />
