<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Planning Commission Minutes <br />April 25, 2000 <br />Page 11 <br /> <br />Lee Hoffman, representing Madison Marquette, thanked staff for their <br />investigative work in preparing their report. <br /> <br />There being no further comments from the public, Chair Mesich closed the public <br />hearing. <br /> <br />Commissioner Chambers asked if the signage were lit and how bright the signage <br />would be. Mr. Hoffman explained that the signage would be lit internally behind <br />colored panels. Ms. McPherson explained that the sign ordinance states that the <br />"light wash" cannot extend beyond the property line. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER KUESTER MOVED APPROVAL Of THE REQUEST BY MADISON <br />MARQUETTE REALTY SERVICES fOR AN AMENDMENT TO THEIR CONDITIONAL USE <br />PERMIT TO INCREASE THE ALLOWED MONUMENT SIGN HEIGHT fROM 19 fEET TO 30 <br />fEET, AND TO INCREASE THE ALLOWED SIGN AREA fROM 80 SQUARE fEET TO 126 <br />SQUARE fEET, PUBLIC HEARING CASE NO. CU 00-11, WITH THE fOLLOWING <br />CONDITIONS: <br /> <br />1. THAT A SIGN PERMIT IS OBTAINED fROM THE ELK RIVER PLANNING DEPARTMENT <br />PRIOR TO ANY INSTALLATION Of SIGNS. <br /> <br />2. THAT NO CONifERS ON THE ELK RIVER PLAZA PROPERTY OR ALONG THE <br />HIGHWAY 169 RIGHT-Of-WAY EAST Of THE SITE BE REMOVED WITHOUT CITY <br />APPROVAL. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER PEDERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 6-0. <br /> <br />Steve Wensman reviewed the revised signage submitted by Snyders for their <br />store. He asked the Commissioners for their opinion on the signage, and whether <br />or not they felt the changes were significant enough to require additional review <br />by them. <br /> <br />Commissioner Kuester stated that she felt the signage and roof line treatment <br />originally proposed was more consistent with the clinic building. <br /> <br />It was the consensus of the Planning Commission that the changes made in <br />Synders' signage did not warrant further review by the Commission. <br /> <br />6. Other Business <br /> <br />6.1. Uodate on Aoril17, 2000 City Council Meeting <br /> <br />Michele McPherson reviewed action on planning issues by the City <br />Council at their April 17, 2000, meeting. <br /> <br />8. <br /> <br />Adjournment <br /> <br />There being no further business, COMMISSIONER PEDERSON MOVED TO ADJOURN <br />THE MEETING. COMMISSIONER KUESTER SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION <br />CARRIED 6-0. <br />
