RecipientsofIRTSareinneed ofstructure andassistancefrom 24-hour <br />mentalhealthstaff andatriskofsignificant functional deteriorationiftheydonotreceivethese <br />services. IRTSaredesignedtodevelopand enhance thefollowing: <br />Psychiatricstability <br />Personalandemotional adjustment <br />Self-sufficiency <br />Skillstoliveinamoreindependent setting <br />IRTSmustbe: <br />Directedto atargeteddischargedatewithspecified recipientoutcomes <br />Consistentwithevidence-based practices <br />EligibleIRTSProviders <br />AnIRTS facilitymust complywiththefollowing: <br />Belicensed withtheRule 36Variance (PDF) <br />Notexceed 16beds <br />Haveacontractwiththehostcounty agency, whichapprovestheIRTSservice <br />HavearateapprovedbyDHS <br />IRTS treatment teammembersmust bequalifiedinoneofthefollowingmental health professional <br />roles: <br />Mental healthpractitioner <br />Certified peerspecialist <br />Mentalhealth rehabilitation worker <br />Registered nurse whoisalsoqualified asamentalhealth practitioner <br />IRTSproviders musthave: <br />Sufficient stafffor24-hour deliveryofmentalhealthservices, asdescribed inthe recipient’s <br />individualtreatmentplan (ITP) <br />Staffavailabletosafely monitor andassistwithactivitiesof recipients <br />Thecapacity torespondtoemergent needsandmakestaffingadjustmentstoassurethe <br />health andsafetyofrecipients. Thisincludes providing medicalservicesdirectly (through its <br />own medicalstaff) orindirectly (throughreferral tomedicalprofessionals) <br />Treatment staffmusthavepromptaccess, inperson orbytelephone, toamental healthprofessional <br />oraqualified mentalhealthpractitioner. AnIRTS providermustensure that theprogrammeetsthe <br />following minimumrequirements: <br />Staffareavailableto provide guidanceandmonitoringwhenever recipients arepresentinthe <br />facility <br />Staff remainawake during allworkhours <br />Astaffingratioofatleastonestafftoninerecipientseachdayand eveningshift <br />Atleastonestaffmemberisamental health professionalorpractitionerifmorethannine <br />recipientsare present
