<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Park & Recreation Commission Minutes <br />November 10, 2004 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />6. <br /> <br />Recreation Manager's Report <br /> <br />Director of Parks and Recreation, Bill Maertz stated that the third Annual Fright Night went <br />very well and was a huge success. Mr. Maertz stated that Kathy LeGare did a great job of <br />organizing the event. Mr. Maertz shared that there were over a hundred volunteers and over <br />500 participants. Mr. Maertz stated that they might look into having heated tents next year. <br /> <br />Commission Anderson commented on how clean the park was after the event. <br /> <br />7. Director's Report - Bill Maertz <br /> <br />Director of Parks and Recreation, Bill Maertz shared with the Commission the revised sign <br />for the Woodlands Trails Park and that he is working with the Eagle Scouts on the project. <br /> <br />Mr. Maertz stated that a second hockey rink would be located down at Handke Stadium and <br />will be scheduled through the Elk River Parks and Recreation office for hockey practices. <br />Mr. Maertz also stated that they are working on improving the lighting down at the stadium. <br /> <br />Mr. Maertz shared that there has been surveying done and park boundary signs have been <br />placed. <br /> <br />Mr. Maertz stated that TRSA tentatively agreed to donate $50,000 - $10,000 over the course <br />of five years for a soccer field collaboration out at the Youth Athletic Complex. Mr. Maertz <br />also stated that the Elk River Youth Football Association is tentatively looking at giving <br />$4,000 a year, over five years, for the field. <br /> <br />8.1. <br /> <br />Community Events: third Annual Family Fright Night Review <br /> <br />Director of Parks and Recreation Bill Maertz discussed this event during the Recreation <br />Manager's report. <br /> <br />8.2A. Case No. AS 04-23 - Sunrise Park <br /> <br />Vance Zehringer from Habitat for Humanity presented to the Commission a proposal <br />asking to waive the park dedication fee for one lot. <br /> <br />MOVED BY COMMISSIONER NYSTROM AND SECONDED BY <br />COMMISSIONER ANDERSON TO RECOMMEND TO THE CITY COUNCIL <br />WAIVING THE DEDICATION FEE FOR ONE LOT. MOTION CARRIED 6-0. <br /> <br />8.2.B. Case No. P 04-24 - Tipton Woods <br /> <br />Commission discussed a request for a Simple Plat for Tipton Woods. <br /> <br />MOVED BY COMMISSIONER KUESTER AND SECONDED BY <br />COMMISSIONER NIZIOLEK TO ACCEPT THE STAFF <br />RECOMMENDATION TO RECOMMEND TO THE CITY COUNCIL CASH <br />DEDICATION FOR ONE LOT. MOTION CARRIED 6-0 <br /> <br />Chair Peterson arrived. <br />
