Additional ResCare provided questions and answers
28. There was a question about the number of police calls and the frequency,.
ResCare — While there are some at each location we try to keep them limited and will work with
the police department to come up with a plan to limit the disruption to the community.
29. AWOLs Absent Without Leave
ResCare — We are required to call police if there is a missing person after 24 hours because they
are vulnerable adults under the law. I think most people will not be gone from the facility
since there is limited transportation. When they do leave it will be purposeful in that it will be
to see family or friends and family or go for a walk with staff and return.
30. There was another question about ResCare's smokingj2oRc: .
ResCare — We do not allow smoking in the building but do not ban smoking on the property.
We will provide a designated smoking area and will build a shelter for them with a fence. We
do work with the clients on smoking cessation with the use of patches and other helpful
medications available if the person wants to quit. For clients who have a mental illness it is a
way to cope with symptoms and we have chosen not to take that away from them. I spoke
with one client who said he is working on sobriety and struggling with that and to take on
smoking cessation too would be more that he could manage.
m
