3.5 Interior Dry 3.5.1
Structural Install a 4-inch diameter coax pipe from the upper cone plate to the roof. This pipe will
be used to run the City's two (2) coaxes to the roof.
Reroute the wireless antennas coaxial cables so they don't interfere with the drywell
tube manway. See photo 26.
Install a 5-foot high section of transition ladder welded next to each of the two (2) dry
riser platform manways. See photo 27. This will bring the manways into OSHA
compliance when climbing or descending the ladders.
Replace the broken glass electrical globes. See photo 28.
Replace the Aluminum jacket covering on the inlet/outlet pipe. Replace any damaged
foam insulation from the removal and storage during the reconditioning.
3.6 Interior Dry 3.6.1
Coating The coating on the interior dry is the original coating when the tower was erected in
1993 and is now 25 years old and it is considered repairable based upon its age.
However, areas that are subjected to sweating including the exterior of the inlet/outlet
pipe should be completely reconditioned.
The complete interior dry surfaces subjected to sweating interior of the drywell tube,
the complete upper platform area and the exterior of the inlet/out pipe should be
reconditioned at the same time the tower is next scheduled for reconditioning in the
next 1 to 2 years. See photos 29 thru 38. Spot repair approximately 200 square feet
of coating failures below the upper platform, to include the base plate and 2-feet of
the lower cone plates.
The coating Dry Film Thickness (DFT) on the interior of the drywell tube is from 8 to
14 mils with an average of 12 mils DFT.
The coating Dry Film Thickness (DFT) on the interior of the cone and bowl plates is
from 12 to 15 mils with an average of 13.5 mils DFT.
The coating Dry Film Thickness (DFT) on the interior of the dry riser is from 8.8 to 14.6
mils with an average of 12.5 mils DFT.
8
135
