46. LIFE INSURANCE <br /> Life insurance is provided to each employee at a rate of Two and One Half times (2%2)the <br /> employee's annual salary, to a maximum of$85,000.00. Employees should consult the <br /> Summary Plan Description for details regarding coverage and eligibility. A copy of this <br /> description will be provided to employees and is available upon request. <br /> 47. EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE <br /> The Utilities will provide financial assistance to eligible employees for pre-approved <br /> courses that are job related, lead to a job-related degree,or are within areas beneficial to the <br /> Utilities in its discretion and pursuant to this policy. With regard to education required by <br /> the Utilities or in connection with a Utilities-approved apprenticeship training program, <br /> check with a Utilities manager. <br /> 1. All full-time Utilities employees with at least three months of continuous <br /> employment are potentially eligible for reimbursement under this policy. <br /> 2. The Utilities may pay up to 100% reimbursement of the costs for tuition, <br /> registration, fees, books and course required materials after successful completion <br /> of a pre-approved course. Courses must be at accredited colleges, universities, or <br /> vocational schools or be short courses conducted by recognized professional <br /> training organizations. <br /> 3. A course may be approved if: <br /> a) It is directly related to the employee's work for the Utilities. <br /> b) It is required by a program of study leading to a degree that is directly related to <br /> the employee's work for the Utilities. <br /> c) It will improve the employee's work for the Utilities. <br /> d) It is expected to be completed within a time acceptable to the Utilities. <br /> 4. This policy will not cover recreational or personal interest courses. <br /> 5. Prior to registration, the employee must have full approval for the course from <br /> Utilities' management designated as having approval authority for such matters. <br /> 6. The Utilities reserves the right to disapprove educational assistance requests and to <br /> amend or eliminate this policy from time to time in its discretion. <br /> 7.
