The Board would like <br /> cost estimates to have hand dryers relocated next to the sinks. Robbie suggested <br /> Gary consult with the city's Environmental Tech, Amanda Bednar, on the <br /> Boards requests. Mary E. asked if Gary could also provide estimated costs to <br /> include urinals in some/all of the bathrooms and doesn't know if it would be a <br /> LEED issue. Laura will contact Gary with their requests and ask him to attend <br /> the March meeting. <br /> 5.4 Library Zones Report <br /> • The Board asked for an update on the windmill at the March meeting; <br /> • The board asked for a status on the kiosk that is to be installed at the front <br /> entrance at the March meeting; <br /> • Mick noted the wood benches throughout the grounds need to be sanded <br /> and refinished once it warms up; <br /> • The Friends of the Library fixed the DVD slippage issue by purchasing <br /> tension rods to keep the DVD's sitting upright and to the front of the book <br /> shelf. Robbie noted that the Friends group also replaced a clock that wasn't <br /> working. Mary E. would like a letter to be sent to the Friends thanking them <br /> for their attention to the needs of the library. Laura will draft a letter for <br /> Mary to review that will go to Mick to sign, as she is the new Chair. <br /> 5.5 City Council Report <br /> • Councilman Ovall stated there are no new council actions or library issues at <br /> this time;the Ice Arena project has been their focus recently and funding is <br /> the latest of their discussions. <br /> 5.6 Patron Services Supervisors Report <br /> Brandi highlighted the following from her report: <br /> • The revamped Locally Growin Fundraiser (used to be called High 5) now has <br /> 100% of the proceeds and goals staying with the local library. Elk River's <br /> goal is to raise $1,000 and use that money towards STEM (Science, <br /> Technology, Engineering and Math) education. <br /> • Axis 360 is one of two platforms being added to the digital collection. Axis <br /> 360 is similar to Overdrive, but is less expensive. The other platform is MN <br /> Writes MN Reads which is headed up ty the Metropolitan Library Service <br /> Agency as a way for local authors to self-publish and share their eBooks. <br /> There will be a writers contest in April or May for MN Writes MN Reads. <br /> • New for 2018 the MN Library Association Legislative Committee is working <br /> on a virtual component to make the important legislative work accessible to <br /> library supporters.
