Unprotected skylights shall not be permitted in roof <br />assemblies required to be fire-resistance rated in accordance with Section 705.8.6. The <br />supporting construction shall be protected to afford the required fire-resistance rating of <br />the horizontal assembly supported. [IBC 711.4] <br /> Column Protection. Where columns are required to have protection to be fire-resistance <br />rated, the entire column shall be provided individual encasement protection by protecting <br />it on all sides for the full column length, including connections to other structural <br />members, with materials having the required fire-resistance rating. Where the column <br />extends through a ceiling, the encasement protection shall be continuous from the top of <br />the foundation or floor/ceiling assembly below through the ceiling space to the top of the <br />column. Protection of the Primary Structural Frame Other Than Columns. <br /> Second Floor Framing Plan, Sheet S2. <br />Determine and indicate which steel beams are required (if any) to have individual encasement <br />protection. How will these steel beams (having direct connections to the columns) be protected; <br />provide fireproofing details/requirements? Please address. <br /> <br /> Protection of the Primary Structural Frame Other Than Columns. Members of the <br />primary structural frame other than columns that are required to have protection to <br />achieve a fire-resistance rating and support more than two floors or one floor and roof, or <br />support a load-bearing wall or a nonload-bearing wall more than two stories high, shall be <br />provided individual encasement protection by protecting them on all sides for the full <br />length, including connections to other structural members, with materials having the <br />required fire-resistance rating. Door and Frame Schedule, Sheet A8.0. <br />Please address the following door requirements. <br /> <br /> Doors 6 at the elevator are required to meet the requirements of IBC 713.14.1, Exception <br />#3 (smoke and draft control). <br /> Doors 8 at each end of the First Floor corridor (into the garages) are in 2 hour fire <br />barriers. The doors are required to have a fire-resistance rating of 90 minutes as per IBC <br />Table 716.5. <br /> Door 18 is indicated as having a fire-resistance rating of 60 minutes.
