Memo to Planning Commisison/CU 02-09
March 26,2002
Page 3
• fire garage, the EOC,the lower level of the Police Department, or the second level shell.
The number of spaces provided is 200, far exceeding the number of employees on site
during the highest shift (days 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m).
Building Elevations
The buildings are proposed to be constructed of brick, simulated stone, and E.I.F.S.,all in
neutral, earth-toned colors. The existing cedar shake roof will be replaced with standing
seam metal in a complimentary color.
Landscape Plan
A landscape plan has been submitted that exceeds the ordinance requirements. Staff is
working with the Landscape Architect on a plan to reuse and/or relocate many of the
existing trees on the site. Native plant materials such as prairie grasses and flowers are
proposed in many areas to reduce maintenance, the need for irrigation, and the need for
chemicals. The landscape plan is being revised to reflect these changes.
Recommendation
Staff recommends that the Planning Commission recommend approval of the request to
expand City Hall and to construct a Public Safety Facility with the following conditions:
• 1. THE BUILDING SHALL COMPLY WITH ALL APPLICABLE
BUILDING CODES.
2. THE LANDSCAPE PLAN SHALL BE REVISED TO COMPLY WITH
STAFF COMMENTS.
•
S:\PLANNING\Case Files\CU 02-09 City Hall\3-26PCmemo.doc
