•
City of
Elk
River
MEMORANDUM
TO: Planning Commission

FROM: Michele McPherson;Director of Planning
DATE: March 12, 2002
SUBJECT: Consider Request for Gymnastics Studio in Business Park
District
Attachments
• March 8, 2002 Letter from Rick Martens
III
• February 27, 2002 Letter from Timothy Flynn
• Floor Plan, Business Park Building
• Purpose Statement and Uses, Business Park District
Request
Rick Martens of Brookstone,Inc.has submitted the attached letter requesting that the City
support a lease with a gymnastics studio for the Business Park property located south of
Home Depot.
I do not believe that this use is compatible within the Business Park District. If the
underlying land use were Highway Business,we could support this use, as health athletic
clubs are a permitted use when the underlying land use is Highway Business. The underlying
land use of the subject property is Light Industrial.
Mr.Martens will not be in attendance at the workshop meeting, but we need to provide him
with some direction regarding this proposed use.
III
S:\PLAN ING\MICHMC\PLREPRTS\Brookstone.doc
