Steering Committee Minutes Page 3 <br /> September 21, 1995 <br /> Discussion followed regarding whether or not to reconsider the <br /> • recommendation on commercial development beyond the 194th alignment. <br /> MARLY GLINES MOVED THAT THE STEERING COMMITTEE RECOMMEND THERE BE NO <br /> COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT BEYOND THE 194TH ALIGNMENT ON THE WEST SIDE <br /> OF HIGHWAY 169, AND,THAT HIGHWAY COMMERCIAL OR PUD BE EXTENDED ON <br /> THE LAND USE AND ZONING MAPS TO THE 197TH AVENUE ALIGNMENT. DICK <br /> HINKLE SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> Rick Foster explained the difficulty in selling residential lots with frontage on <br /> Highway 169. <br /> Robin Tuttle expressed concern that highway commercial will eventually extend <br /> all the way to Zimmerman. <br /> Dale Specht stated that he felt the Highway Commercial zoning was <br /> appropriate for property along Highway 169. Mr.Specht noted that his parents <br /> own the property under discussion. <br /> THE MOTION CARRIED 4-2. COMMITTEE MEMBERS HINKLE, GLINES, ENGSTROM <br /> AND EBERLEY VOTED IN FAVOR. DWYER AND ANDERSON OPPOSED. CHAIR <br /> MINTON ABSTAINED. <br /> Mary Eberley expressed her agreement with the concept but felt this issue should <br /> have been presented at the Planning Commission level. <br /> IIIThe following changes were requested: <br /> - Include specific Steering Committee recommendations regarding the <br /> downtown. <br /> - Add language to recommend performance standards be enhanced for <br /> commercial along east Highway 10 corridor. <br /> DICK HINKLE MOVED APPROVAL OF SECTION V. - COMMERCIAL, WITH THE <br /> CHANGES AS NOTED ABOVE. MARY EBERLEY SECONDED THE MOTION. THE <br /> MOTION CARRIED 5-2. PAT DWYER AND DAVE ANDERSON OPPOSED, ON THE <br /> GROUNDS THAT THEY WERE NOT IN FAVOR OF THE CHANGE IN ZONING FOR THE <br /> AREA EAST OF HIGHWAY 169 NORTH TO 197TH AVENUE NW. <br /> VI. INDUSTRIAL <br /> Changes requested: <br /> - add language that states the transportation system should complement <br /> industrial development <br /> - verify estimated gravel mining time period (25-50 yrs. - 25-75 yrs.) <br /> PAT DWYER MOVED APPROVAL OF SECTION VI. - INDUSTRIAL WITH THE CHANGE AS <br /> NOTED ABOVE.
