Steering Committee Minutes Page 3 July 27, 1995 IP Members of the Committee expressed concern for taking any action regarding changes in zoning or in the urban service boundary, due to the fact that discussion of this particular area was not advertised. CHRIS KREGER MOVED TO TABLE DISCUSSION OF LOT SIZES AND URBAN SERVICES IN THE SOUTHEAST PLANNING AREA. DAVE ANDERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 6-0. Chris Kreger requested that some type of reference to this motion be placed in the Star News. Parks and Recreation Discussion Rolf Anderson reviewed information presented in Stephen Rohlf's memo regarding the Master Park Plan Update. Discussion followed regarding whether or not there was a need to have a zoning/land use designation for parks and open space. CHRIS KREGER MOVED THE STEERING COMMITTEE INCLUDE THE PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION'S RECOMMENDATIONS IN THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE, AS FOLLOWS: 1. ALL EXISTING CITY PARKS BE ZONED AS PARK AND DESIGNED OPEN SPACE ON THE LAND USE MAP. • 2. THE LAND USE DESIGNATION ON THE SHERBURNE COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS PARKING LOT BE CHANGED FROM LI (LIGHT INDUSTRIAL) TO OS (OPEN SPACE). DAVE ANDERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 6-0. 6. Tentative Schedule of Upcoming Meetings August 17- Summary of recommendations, map revisions September 21 - Presentation of Draft Comprehensive Plan Update 7. Other Business Planning Commission Chair Louise Kuester requested the Steering Committee provide more information on the proposed townhome zoning designation, and indicate areas where townhomes may be appropriate. Members of the Steering Committee suggested that townhomes may be appropriate for buffering in areas adjacent to U.S. Highways, major arterials, and in areas of transition. 9. Adjournment •
