Parks&Recreation Commission Minutes Page 4 • <br /> February 14,2018 <br /> 6. Discussion Items <br /> 6.1 Outdoor Ice Rink at Spectrum High School <br /> Mr. Hecker presented his report. Sharing that it would be nice to add a warming house at no extra <br /> cost and look at not doing a rink at Kliever Lake Fields. <br /> Chair Anderson arrived at 7:40 p.m. <br /> Mr. Sevcik gave an update on the outdoor rinks for this year's season, staring three weeks earlier <br /> and neighborhood rinks getting higher usage. <br /> Commissioner Soltvedt asked about having hockey boards at the Spectrum site. <br /> Mr. Hecker stated that the hockey boards would be paid for by the school and after negotiating <br /> with Spectrum staff. <br /> 6.2 Park Ranger Volunteer Position <br /> Mr. Benoit presented his report. <br /> Commissioner Soltvedt shared how Anoka County Parks and Recreation reviewed their Park <br /> Ranger position and title and decided based on what the position provided that the title would be <br /> Park Services. <br /> Commissioner Niziolek stated that there is a great need for informing park users existing park <br /> ordinances,also sharing that he had been bitten by a dog in one of the parks. <br /> Commissioner Soltvedt shared that the hard thing about ordinances is it's challenging to enforce <br /> them. <br /> Mr. Benoit shared that the park ordinances were listed on the website and that staff will work <br /> harder on educating the public on them. <br /> Chair Anderson stated that he did not want to see the position removed. <br /> Mr. Hecker stated that incidents that happen in the parks need to be reported to the police so they <br /> can respond and things are logged. <br /> Chair Anderson asked if this position would report to Mr. Benoit and does it require a background <br /> check? <br /> Mr. Benoit shared that the position would need a background check and that the position would <br /> be an extension of the Adopt-a-Park program and would communicate with the supervisor of that <br /> program. <br /> II � E1E1 � r • <br /> INATUREI <br />
