Mr. Breez~e indicated that Mr. Santwire felt these regulations are <br />excessive, and that he can adequately address safety concerns without providing <br />a sprinkler system~ Mr. Breezee further indicated that he was in agreement <br />with Mr. Santwire, land that in order for Mr. Santwire to allow the dance <br />studio to occupy t4e lower portion of this building, he must obtain a variance <br />from the Fire Code 'Regulations. <br /> <br />The City Administrator indicated that the State wants a recommendation from <br />the Elk River City!Council prior to consideration of the variance request. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER DUITSMAN MOVED TO CONCUR WITH THE FINDINGS OF THE BUILDING AND <br />ZONING ADMINISTRATQR AND SUPPORT MR. SANTWIRE'S REQUEST FOR A VARIANCE FROM <br />THE STATE FIRE CODE REGULATIONS. COUNCILMEMBER GUNKEL SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />THE MOTION PASSED 4-0. <br /> <br />15. American Dairy Association Raffle License <br /> <br />The City Administrator indicated that Ms. Emma Holzen, representing the Sherburne <br />County American Dairy Association, has requested permission to conduct a raffle <br />at the County Fair on July 15, 16, and 17. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER DUITSMAN MOVED TO APPROVE A LICENSE TO CONDUCT A RAFFLE AT THE <br />SHERBURNE COUNTY FAIR TO THE SHERBURNE COUNTY AMERICAN DAIRY ASSOCIATION. <br />COUNCILMEMBER SCHULDT SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED 4-0. <br /> <br />l5~. Softball Association <br /> <br />Councilmember Schuldt indicated that he has received complaints from residents <br />in the apartment building near the softball fields, regarding the players and <br />the use of the toilet facilities provided at the softball fields. <br /> <br />It was the consensus of the City Council that the City Administrator write a <br />letter to the Softball Association regarding the complaints received. <br /> <br />16. Administrator's Update <br /> <br />A. Corporal Assignment <br /> <br />The City Administrator indicated that the City Council had requested that <br />Corporal Assignment for the Police Department be considered for approval <br />July 1, 1983. <br /> <br />It was the consensus of the City Council that the Corporal Assignment in <br />the Elk River Police Department go into effect July 1, 1983. <br /> <br />B. Tornado Damage Warning <br /> <br />The City Administrator indicated that a tornado had touched down in the <br />City of Elk River and that the Street Department was helping clean up <br />trees and debris caused by the storm. The City Administrator requested <br />authorization to obtain information on a siren warning system. <br /> <br />It was the consensus of the City Council to authorize the City Administrator <br />to obtain siren warning information for the City. <br />
