Data Collection <br /> • Data to be collected: <br /> - GIS basemap from OSM-- Will visit OSM on December 11, 1996 to <br /> obtain GIS base map in the appropriate format. David Schwarting <br /> requested to be advised on the quality of the base map. <br /> - Current and planned major trucking facilities (gravel, landfill, shipping) <br /> - There are no controlled access corridors in the County <br /> 3. Work in Progress <br /> • Demographic Analysis <br /> • - Add 1995 estimated and 2020 population projection by state demographer <br /> - Present population data with actual numbers, not just percent change <br /> - Check commuter trends reports by the U of M CTS for most current <br /> average travel time to work. Terry Humbert will fax information on how <br /> to obtain these reports. <br /> • Traffic Growth <br /> - First draft of volume spreadsheet was distributed. Will be reviewed in <br /> detail at the next meeting. <br /> - Mn/DOT's count years are odd years. Need to check if volumes for odd <br /> years have been interpolated. <br /> • Functional Classification <br /> - Briefly went through FHWA guidelines/methodology <br /> - Need for more north-south minor arterials near and to the east of <br /> Big Lake (CSAR 5, CSAH 1, CSAH 19 to the south). <br /> - Need east-west roadways in the Cities of Big Lake and particularly <br /> Elk River, where access spacing along TH 169 is quite large <br /> • <br />
