<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />--, <br /> <br />MEETING OF THE ELK RIVER CITY COUNCIL <br />HELD AT THE ELK RIVER CITY HALL <br />MONDAY, MARCH 25, 1985 <br /> <br />Members Present: Mayor Hinkle, Councilmembers Williams, Schuldt and Gunkel. <br /> <br />Members Absent: Councilmember Engstrom <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 7:00 by Mayor Hinkle. <br /> <br />1. Jack Boarman and five miscellaneous other issues were added to the March 25, 1985 <br />City Council Agenda. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER GUNKEL MOVED TO APPROVE THE AGENDA AS AMENDED. COUNCILMEMBER WILLIAMS <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED 3-0. <br /> <br />l~. Jack Boarman - Remodeled City Hall Model <br /> <br />Mr. Jack Boarman brought in a model of the remodeled City Hall for the City Council's <br />review. Mr. Boarman reviewed the anticipated costs of the remodeling and the type <br />of construction proposed. <br /> <br />Mr. Boarman indicated that the proposed City Hall remodeling would consist of <br />approximately 11,400~quare feet at a cost of approximately $714,000.00. Mr. <br />Boarman indicated that it was the City Council's consensus that the cost was the <br />primary issue in the city hall referendum failure and, therefore, the scaled down <br />proposal has been presented to the City Council. Mr. Boarman indicated that he <br />felt the City Council would have to purchase the county building at a price of <br />approximately $500,000.00 as approximately $200,000.00 is needed for remodeling <br />of the County building and, therefore, bringing the cost to a comparison with <br />the proposed $714,000.00 anticipated for the remodeling of the City Hall building. <br /> <br />It was the consensus of the City Council to wait until after the April 2nd County <br />Commissioners meeting before pursuing the City Hall facilities further. <br /> <br />2. Consider One Ton Truck Bid <br /> <br />Mr. Phil Hals, City Street Superintendent, submitted a memo to the City Council <br />listing the bids received, March 20, 1985 for a one ton truck cab and,chassis. <br /> <br />Mr. Phil Hals indicated that the low bid was Elk River Ford in the amount of <br />$9,498.97.00 for a gasoline powered one ton truck cab and chassis. Mr. Hals <br />indicated that A~t( Goebel Ford, at a price of $9,997.00 was second, and further <br />indicated that it would take six months to receive a vehicle from Art Goebel Ford. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER GUNKEL MOVED TO AUTHORIZE TIIE PURCHASE OF A ONE TON TRUCK CAB AND <br />CHASSIS FROM ELK RIVER FORD IN TIlE AMOUNT OF $9,498.97. COUNCILMEMBER SCHULDT <br />SECONDED TIlE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED 4-0. <br /> <br />Mr. Phil Hals indicated that he had a flag pole base planned to present to the <br />City Council at their next meeting. Mr. Hals indicated that the estimated cost <br />for his proposed flag pole base is approximately $2,000.00. <br />
