Mr. Boarman further indicated that in the <br />new site, new building proposal, the public works garage was to remain the same <br />size of 12,000 square feet at the $284,000. <br /> <br />Mr. Jack Boarman indicated that the fourth option or proposal was the actual cost <br />of the public works garage. Mr. Jack Boarman indicated that the assignment in- <br />volved a 30% reduction in the original proposal which was a significant change in the <br />total project. Mr. Boarman indicated that the reduction would move the proposal from <br />a IS-year plan to approximately an 8 to 10-year plan. <br /> <br />The City Administrator indicated that the Chamber of Commerce Board has taken a <br />position regarding the municipal facilities, and two representatives of the board <br />were present to discuss that position with the City Council. <br /> <br />Councilmember Gunkel indicated that she met with the Chamber of Commerce Board to <br />discuss the City Council's position authorizing Mr. Jack Boarman to prepare options <br />for the City facilities to be within $995,000. <br /> <br />Mr. Wes Hunt, president of the Chamber of Commerce, indicated that the Chamber was <br />satisfied with the proposal and would support the City Council wherever they can. <br />Mr. Duane Kropuenske indicated that the City Council could use the Chamber as an <br />arm to the community with regard to the providing of information for the City <br />facilities. Mr. Duane Kropuenske indicated that various Chamber businesses would <br />be happy to display models of the proposed City facilities. <br /> <br />Mr. Jack Boarman indicated that he would be able to have support materials in approx- <br />imately 30 days with modification of the slide show and newsletter. Mr. Boarman <br />further indicated that it would take approximately 6 weeks for preparation before <br />a referendum. <br /> <br />General discussion was carried on regarding necessary steps to be taken. Mr. Boarman <br />indicated that he felt the City Council should hold another public hearing to prov- <br />vide information regarding the tax issue to the community. <br /> <br />There was no consensus of the City Council at this point. <br /> <br />5. Deerfield Second Addition Preliminary Plat/Public Hearing <br /> <br />Mr. Jim Tralle, representative of the Planning Commission, indicated that Mr. <br />Gerry Smith is requesting preliminary plat approval for Deerfield 2nd Addition. <br />Mr. Tralle indicated that the plat is approximately 220 acres and consists of a <br />total of 62 lots with each of the 62 lots consisting of a minimum of 2~ acres and <br />150 feet in width. Mr. Tralle indicated that in reviewing the preliminary plat, <br />the key question is the extension of 197th Avenue east to the Knollwood Addition. <br /> <br />Discussion was carried on regarding the extension of 197th east to the Knollwood <br />Addition and who owned the property required for that extension. The City Administra- <br />tor indicated that Mr. Everett Specht is the owner of the property between the pro- <br />posed Deerfield 2nd Addition plat and the Knollwood Addition at 197th Avenue. <br />
