COUNCILMEMBER WILLIAMS SECONDED <br />THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED 3-1. COUNCILMEMBER SCHULDT OPPOSED. <br /> <br />Further discussion was carried on regarding the use of the $5,000 for senior <br />citizens' activities. Discussion was also carried on regarding the possibility <br />of the senior citizens' activities being a separate budget item in 1986. <br /> <br />Further discussion was carried on regarding the split of the $5,000 for the <br />coordinator position and the activity programs. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER WILLIAMS MOVED THAT SIXTY PERCENT (60%) OR $3,000 BE USED TOWARD <br />A COORDINATOR POSITION AND FORTY PERCENT (40%) OR $2,000 BE USED TOWARD SENIOR <br />CITIZENS' ACTIVITY PROGRAMS WITH THE COORDINATOR POSITION SUPERVISED BY DENNY <br />CARLSON OF. THE COMMUNITY ED. COUNCILMEMBER GUNKEL SECONDED THE MOTION. THE <br />MOTION PASSED 3~1. COUNCILMEMBER SCHULDT OPPOSED. <br /> <br />4. City Administrator Resignation <br /> <br />COUNCI)LMEMBERENGSTROM MOVED TO ACCEPT THE RESIGNATION OF THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR <br />AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, WISHED BOB MIDDAUGH SUCCESS IN HIS NEW POSITION <br />IN WATERTOWN, CONNECTICUT. COUNCILMEMBER SCHULDT SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION <br />PASSED 5-0. <br /> <br />5. City Facilities Survey Questions <br /> <br />Mr. Jack Boarman of Boarman Architects was present to discuss the proposed questions <br />to be asked in a City survey regarding city facilities. It was the consensus of <br />the City Council that Mr. Boarman and his staff survey the community with the <br />questions as discussed, with the results to be presented to the City Council at <br />the January 22, 1985 joint Chamber of Commerce and City Council meeting. <br /> <br />6. BrentwoodRoads <br /> <br />Mayor Hinkle indicated that the City Council has received a memorandum from Mr. <br />John Gilbertson of Consulting Engineers Diversified, regarding the Brentwood <br />roads. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER ENGSTROM MOVED TO ACCEPT THE LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION DATED JANUARY <br />8, 1985 FROM MR. JOHN GILBERTSON OF CONSULTING ENGINEERS DIVERSIFIED REGARDING THE <br />WINTER MAINTENANCE AND ACCEPTANCE OF THE BRENTWOOD ROADS. COUNCILMEMBER GUNKEL <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED 4-0. <br /> <br />7. Executive Search <br /> <br />Mayor Hinkle indicated that the City Council must discuss the means of finding a <br />replacement for the City Administrator. The City Administrator indicated that <br />an ad had been placed in the ICMA Newsletter. <br /> <br />Discussion was carried on regarding the various means of finding a replacement <br />for the City Administrator. The use of an executive search firm was discussed <br />as well as a citizens' search committee and the City Council reviewing applications <br />and finding a replacement. Discussion was carried on regarding how each of these <br />methods would be handled and how the work would be accomplished. <br /> <br />
