Update on Local Government Aid <br /> <br />The City Administrator indicated that <br />meeting of the Minnesota Coalition <br />local government aid was the main <br />legislature is proposing to cut 8% <br />also cutting 8.7% in homestead credit. <br /> <br />he and Mayor Hinkle attended a <br />of Outstate Cities of which <br />issue. He indicated that the <br />in local government aides and <br /> <br />Lori Johnson indicated this would affect the City budget by $44.200 <br />from the local government aid and $12.000 from the homestead <br />credit. The figures from the Coalition of Outstate Cities indicated <br />even larger amounts would be cut. <br /> <br />The City Admnistrator indicated that we should look at the impact <br />this will have on outs tate communities as compared to metro <br />communities. He stated that local government aid adds a larger share <br />to our budget than it does to metro communities. <br /> <br />The City Administrator indicated that the Council and staff should <br />contact their local representatives and make known their oppositon to <br />the proposed cuts. <br /> <br />D. Seminar <br /> <br />The City Administrator indicated that he received information on a <br />seminar entitled Privatization. The City Administrator explained <br />that Privatization was a word being used to describe a timely local <br />government option for solid waste disposal. wastewater treatment and <br />other capital intensive public services. He explained that <br />privatization was something which would allow the public sector to <br />contract to do municipal services such as building sewer plants and <br />operating on a fee basis. <br /> <br />MAYOR HINKLE MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR TO ATTEND THE <br />PRIVATIZATION SEMINAR TO BE HELD ON FEBRUARY 7. 1986. COUNCILMEMBER <br />GUNKEL SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED 5-0. <br /> <br />7. Guardian Angels Foundation Gambling License <br /> <br />The City Administrator noted <br />applying with the State for <br />Council took no action to veto <br /> <br />that the Guardian Angels Foundation was <br />a gambling license for bingo. The City <br />the application. <br /> <br />8. Citizen's Advisory Committee <br /> <br />The Council discussed the names of the people who have volunteered to <br />serve on the Citizen's Advisory Committee.
