<br />Page 2 <br /> <br />City Council Minutes <br />August 31. 1987 <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />After much discussion by the Council regarding the Tipton Avenue <br />intersection. it was the consensus of the Council to put a three way stop <br />at Tipton Avenue and Main Street and to realign the road to allow a 90 <br />degree turn. <br /> <br />Mayor Gunkel questioned the traffic problems at the Otsego Bridge and <br />Main Street. Terry Maurer indicated this visability situation would be <br />improved after the project is completed. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER TRALLE MOVED TO APPROVE <br />REQUESTING A STREET WIDTH VARIANCE TO <br />REQUIREMENTS IN REGARDS TO DIAGONAL <br />COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 87-49, A RESOLUTION <br />THE MUNICIPAL STATE AID <br />PARKING ON MAIN STREET. <br />THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />4.3. MSA Mileage/Discussion <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />The City Engineer explained that paper work regarding the turnback of <br />Jackson Avenue was nearly completed. He indicated that because of the <br />turnback of Jackson Avenue. the City has one mile of street which can be <br />designated to the MSA system. The Council discussed areas this mile of <br />road could be added as a MSA designated road in the City. The area that <br />received the most discussion pertained to Jarvis Street in relations to <br />t~Northfork Development in the City of Ramsey. Mayor Gunkel indicated <br />that in the interest of being good neighbors. and to have a road that <br />will serve Elk River citizens the extra MSA mileage should be added to <br />Jarvis Street. The Council concurred with this recommendation pending <br />receiving additional information from the City Engineer on possible <br />future expenses on Jarvis Street as the traffic volume increases because <br />of the residential development in Ramsey. <br /> <br />4.4.
