Page 2 Council Minutes (Committee Meeting) March 2. 1987 ------------------------------------- e 7. A brief discussion was held regarding Dodge Avenue Days which is to take place June 20th. There was no consensus from the Council on this topic as far as City participation. 8. The Sherburne was discussion parade or have automobile. etc. County Fair Parade will be held Friday July 24th. There as to whether or not the City Council would walk in the a form of transportation: fire truck. hay rack. 9. The Board of Review accessible day for the 21st with Ty Bischoff. suitable. is proposed to meet on May 14th. This was not an Council. so Pat Klaers will discuss May 7th or May County Assessor to see if either of these dates is 10. The City Hall Open House is going to try to be planned along with Law Enforcement Week which falls on either the second or third week of May. Pat Klaers distributed a work project list which will be further discussed at a future Council Meeting. 12. Adding Officer #11 e Tom Zerwas. Chief of Police. was present to request the hiring of an Officer #11 be moved up from the original date of July 1st to May 1st or 15th. He also questioned the Council on the type of time frame they are looking at for an Officer #12. Mr. Zerwas also stated that with the additional Officer #11. a new squad car would be needed. A request was planned for three (3) new squad cars in 1988. With the purchase of a vehicle upon hiring of Officer #11. only two(2) vehicles would be purchased in 1988. Discussion was held among the Committee and Tom Zerwas in regards to the reasoning for a new car. the early hiring of the officer. and the need for an Officer #12. It was the general consensus of the Council meeting to allow Mr. Zerwas to begin the advertising process and this item will be brought before the City Council at the March 23 Council Meeting. 13. Pat Klaers gave a brief presentation on the situation of an Economic Development Coordinator. He suggested discussion take place on hiring an experienced professional. establishing an entry level position. and the role of consultants with the City. 14. A Growth Management meeting will be held at the New City Hall Conference Hall on Monday. March 9th at 7:00 p.m. e 15. There was an update given on the Landfill. Pat Klaers distributed a hand-out to Councilmembers. discussed testing out at the landfill. and County involvement regarding responsibilities.
