<br />COMMITTEE MEETING <br />OF THE ELK RIVER CITY COUNCIL <br />HELD AT THE ELK RIVER PUBLIC LIBRARY <br />MARCH 2. 1987 <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Members Present: Mayor Gunkel. Councilmembers Dobel. Tralle. Schuldt. <br />Holmgren. <br /> <br />Members Absent: None <br /> <br />Staff Present: Pat Klaers. City Administrator. <br /> <br />1. The meeting was called to order at 9:16 p.m. by Mayor Gunkel <br /> <br />2. Hydrant-Maintenance Fees <br /> <br />Discussion was held in regards to the services that are being received <br />from the Utilities Department for the City payments of hydrant <br />maintenance fees. The City is currently paying $6500 a year but are now <br />unsure if any service is being provided. <br /> <br />Councilmember Tralle. a member of the Utilities Commission. is going to <br />mention to the Commisioner that the City would like to see documentation <br />showing the City agreed to pay such a fee and documentation showing what <br />services have been provided over the past six (6) years. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Due to a lack of communication. the hydrant rental fee has not been paid <br />to the Utilities since August 1986. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />The 1987 Annual League Legislative Action Conference dealing with taxes <br />will be held March 10 in St. Paul. Mayor Gunkel made the registration <br />form available for anyone wishing to attend. <br /> <br />"Discover Elk River." a Community Education program to educate newcomers <br />to the community in the areas of commercial. retail. city and community <br />education. will be held on April 9. 1987 from 7-9 p.m. All Councilmembers <br />are encouraged to attend. <br /> <br />5. The Elk River Community Festival will be held on Saturday. June 13. The <br />Police Department will again be having a booth and it was suggested that <br />the Fire Department be added and also the Street Department with displays <br />of their past and current projects. <br /> <br />6. Camp Courage Wagon Train will be coming through Elk River on Friday. <br />June 19. with 20-30 wagons. These people use the trip as a fund-raiser <br />to help finance handicapped programs and have requested an evening meal <br />in the City. They will be putting on a variety show while in town as <br />part of the fund raiser. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schuldt suggested the City paying for the meal. Another <br />suggestion. which came from Mayor Gunkel. was to buy a piece of <br />advertising on the side of one of the wagons. which will be parked at the <br />fairgrounds while in town. <br /> <br />e <br />
