<br />Page 4 <br /> <br />City Council Minutes <br />February 2. 1987 <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Discussion continued and it was the consensus of the Council that it is <br />open to ideas but does not want to jump into the deal. Mr. Hals is <br />planning on talking to Mr. Morrell and asking that he come before the <br />Council the last meeting in March. <br /> <br />9.2.Public Works Building Update <br /> <br />Phil Hals brought the Council up to date on the financial status of the <br />Public Works Building. He stated that the final figure will be under the <br />$2S0.000 recommendaton from the Citizen's Committee. <br /> <br />Suggestions were brought up as to how to celebrate the moving and grant <br />opening of the Public Works Building. Some of the suggestions were: a <br />moving parade. ribbon cutting. musical entertainment by the High School <br />Band and the Elk River Community Band. Mr. Hals indicated that the City <br />will be sending out invitations to people who helped on the project. <br /> <br />9.3.Cigarette & Mechanical Amusement Device Licenses <br /> <br />All licenses <br />established <br /> <br />are currently paid. It was suggested that a fine be <br />for those businesses who are late paying the licensing fee. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER TRALLE MOVED TO APPROVE THE <br />CIGARETTES AND MECHANICAL. AMUSEMENT DEVICES. <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED 5-0. <br /> <br />LIST OF PAID LICENSES FOR <br />COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN <br /> <br />10.1.Economic Development Commission Appointments <br /> <br />The Council unanimously agreed to appoint two (2) candidates interviewed <br />at the last meeting: Greg Hohlen and Jeff Gongoll. <br /> <br />It was decided that the Council would not reappoint Hank Duitsman. Rob <br />Vanvalkenberg or a council representative to the Commission. It was also <br />noted that Rob Vanvalkenberg did not respond for reappointment to the EDC. <br />and that Hank Duitsman responded favorably; however. it was the consensus <br />of the Council that Hank was already on the HRA Committee and Utility <br />Commission and that the Council preferred to bring new people on the <br />Committee. It was the consensus that "new blood" and ideas are needed. <br />Discussion continued on a third appointment to the EDC. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO APPOINT WADE TURNER. GREG HOm..EN AND JEFF <br />GONGOLL TO THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION. COUNCILMEMBER TRALLE <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED 4-0. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schuldt did not vote on the members chosen for the Economic <br />Development Commission due to the fact that he was not present during <br />the interviewing of the first five (S) candidates. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />A consensus of the Council <br />Development Commission opens <br />offered first to John Kuester. <br /> <br />was that if a position on the Economic <br />within the next year. the opening is to be <br />
