It was further decided that this matter need not
return to the Council if the property is sold by the last meeting in
March.

7.1. Access off 169 to Ronald Myra Werner Property

Steve Rohlf. Building and Zoning Administrator. noted that the Werner
property had recently went through an administrative subdivision. He
noted the property is located on the northwest corner of the intersection
of Main Street and Highway 169.

Mr. Wally O'dell was present representing the Werners and indicated the
Werners would like to get an in and out access from Mn/DOT from 169 to
the property and are requsting the Council to write a letter to Mn/DOT
stating their support of this proposal.

e

Councilmember Holmgren stated he was more concerned with the traffic flow
across Highway 169 and the absence of a left turn lane. He stated he
felt the intersection should be addressed first.

Mayor Gunkel concurred with Councilmember Holmgren and stated there was a
need for a left turn lane on 169 and Main going east and west. She
further noted that in the interest of alleviating some of the traffic
volume on Main Street. it would be an advantage to the city and to the
property to have access from Highway 169 and that she would support a
letter to Mn/DOT stating such.

Mr. Rohlf questioned whether the Council was considering the right turn
into the property and also the right turn from the property onto Highway
169.

It was the consensus of the City Council to send a letter to Mn/DOT
supporting the request for an access from 169 to the Werner property
without mentioning any specifics regarding one way traffic flow or
entrance back onto 169 from the Werner property.

7.2. Deerfield 3rd Northern Access Agreement

This item was deleted from the agenda and is anticipated to be considered
at the 2/9/87 City Council meeting.

7.3. Junkyards

e

Councilmember Tralle stated that he would like the section of the City
Ordinance looked at referring to abandoned cars. The Building and Zoning
Administrator noted that there was an ordinance amendment in front of the
Planning Commission at their next meeting which will indicate that any
abandoned vehicles in excess of one will be considered a public nuisance.
Mr. Rohlf further stated that this will be in front of the City Council
with the Planning Commission's recommendation in the near future.
