Strikethroughs to be removed <br />Underlines to be added <br />Last Updated March 2014 <br />Exterior storage means the storage of goods, materials, equipment, manufactured products and <br />similar items not fully enclosed by a building. <br />Façade means that portion of any exterior elevation on the building extending from grade to top <br />of the parapet, wall, or eaves and the entire width of the building elevation. <br />Family means any number of individuals generally, but not necessarily, related by blood and <br />marriage, living together at one location as a single, nonprofit housekeeping unit, as distinguished <br />from a group occupying a boardinghouse or roominghouse, tourist home, hotel or motel. <br />Farm dwelling means a building designed for residential occupation by human beings located on a <br />farm, the occupant of which owns the farm or is employed thereon. <br />Farm winery means an agricultural processing facility used for the fermenting and processing of <br />grape and other fruit juices into wine or the refermenting of wine into sparkling wine. When on-site <br />sales are included the facility shall be licensed and follow all provisions of Minn. Stats. § 340A.315. <br />Feedlot means a confined area used for housing or feeding poultry or livestock where substantial <br />amounts of animal waste will be generated, but not including barns or pens which are accessory uses <br />incidental to a farming operation. For the purpose of section 30-803, feedlots shall include only <br />those operations with more than ten animal units. <br />Fence means a partition, structure, wall, or gate erected as a dividing marker, visual or physical <br />barrier or enclosure. <br />Festoon means a string of ribbons, tinsel, small flags, or pinwheels. <br />Final plat means the final map, drawing or chart on which the subdivider's plan of subdivision is <br />presented to the city council for approval and which, if approved will be submitted to the county <br />recorder as required in state statutes. <br />Financial institution means an establishment where the principal business is the receipt, <br />disbursement or exchange of funds and currencies, such as: bank, savings and loan, credit union, <br />mortgage office, or automated teller machine (ATM). Financial institution shall not include a <br />currency exchange. <br />Fire chief means the fire chief for the city, or his designated agents authorized to enforce article <br />III of this chapter pertaining to housing standards. <br />Fire code means the current Minnesota Fire Code and its amendments as adopted by the city. <br />Firearm means any device from which may be fired or ejected one or more solid projectiles by <br />means of a cartridge or shell or by the action of an explosive substance; or for which the propelling <br />force is a spring, elastic band, carbon dioxide, air, or other gas or vapor. Excluding nonfunctioning <br />antique firearm, “BB” gun, scuba gun, stud or nail gun used in the construction industry, pop gun, <br />or toy gun. <br />Firearm, sale of means an establishment having at least 25 percent of its gross floor area used for <br />the sale of firearms, ammunition and ammunition components, and hunting or shooting equipment. <br />Flag lot means a lot so shaped that the building site area is set back from the street on which the <br />lot fronts and the lot includes an access strip, which is at any point less than 75 percent of the
