<br />Page 5 <br /> <br />City Council Minutes <br />August 7. 1989 <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />10.3 Personnel Coordinator Applications <br /> <br />Mayor Tra1le indicated that the Personnel Coordinator applications have <br />been available at City Hall for Council review. Counci1member Schuldt <br />indicated that he had spoke to Councilmember Holmgren. and Councilmember <br />Holmgren had indicated that he had reviewed the applications and stated <br />that his number one choice of the Consulting firms was Larkin. Hoffman <br />and number two was DCA. Counci1member Schuldt stated that Councilmember <br />Holmgren also indicated his list of top individuals to look at. but that <br />he preferred to go with a Consultant rather than an individual. <br />Councilmember Schuldt also indicated that Councilmember Dobel had <br />expressed to him the desire to seriously consider Larkin. Hoffman. <br /> <br />Pat Klaers. City Administrator. indicated that the original position of <br />Personnel Coordinator started as a permanent full time Administrative <br />Assistant/Personnel Coordinator to work in the Administration area. The <br />City then looked at one year employee to do personnel work. He indicated <br />that although the price came in lower than he expected from the <br />Consulting firms. that the Council should closely evaluate these firms <br />and determine exactly what they will expect from the firms. He further <br />indicated that he thought it would be wise to also consider an <br />individual. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Councilmember Kropuenske stated that he was skeptical as to whether or <br />not the Consultants actual charges to the City would be what is quoted. <br />He indicated that he felt the City would get more for their dollar with <br />an individual than with a Consultant. <br /> <br />After further discussion by the Council regarding a Consultant firm <br />versus an individual for the personnel position. it was the consensus to <br />interview Consultant firms only due to the fact that a majority of the <br />Councilmembers would prefer to go with a Consultant firm. The Consultant <br />firms which the Council decided to interview are Larkin. Hoffman and DCA. <br /> <br />10.4 Approval of Change Order and Final Pay Estimate/Main Street <br /> <br />The City Administrator indicated that as stated in Lori Johnson's memo <br />dated August 3. 1989. all but a few minor items have been completed on <br />Main Street/Jackson Avenue Project and the City Engineer is proceeding <br />with the paperwork to final the project. The City Administrator further <br />indicated that there is a change order request for $13.374.14 for <br />additional work completed. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER SCHULDT MOVED TO APPROVE THE CHANGE ORDER FOR THE MAIN <br />STREET/JACKSON AVENUE PROJECT AT $13.374.14 AND FURTHER TO APPROVE THE <br />FINAL PAY ESTIMATE OF $108.481.91. COUNCILMEMBER KROPUENSKE SECONDED THE <br />MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 3-0. <br /> <br />e <br />
