<br />Page 6 <br /> <br />Elk River City Council Minutes <br />June 5. 1989 <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />11.5 The City Administrator informed the Council that he had met with <br />Dr. Flannery regarding the City and the School District working <br />together on the expansion of the public works garage. He indicated <br />that he and Dr. Flannery have been analyzing the finances for the <br />project and it appears that they are very close to an acceptable <br />proposal. <br /> <br />11.6 <br /> <br />11.7 <br /> <br />11.8 <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />11.9 <br /> <br />The City Administrator informed the Council that the City Economic <br />Development Coordinator is requesting authorization to place an Elk <br />River ad in the Real Estate Journal for $400. It was the consensus <br />of the Council to authorize the placement of the ad in the Real <br />Estate Journal. <br /> <br />The City Administrator informed the Council that he had met with <br />Carol Carlson and had discussed the possibility of her working on a <br />consultant basis as a personnel coordinator with the City of Elk <br />River. He indicated that he would like to hire Ms. Carlson as a <br />one year contract employee for this position. <br /> <br />The City Administrator informed the Council that the Police Chief <br />had received a petition from Mr. Steve Theis regarding speeding on <br />Fillmore Street. 175th Avenue. 173rd Avenue and Tyler Street. He <br />indicated that the petition consisted of 24 signatures and that the <br />request is for a speed study to be done. <br /> <br />OOUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 89-38. A <br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE COMMISSIONER OF TRANSPORTATION TO STUDY <br />CERTAIN ROADS IN THE CITY OF ELK RIVER FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br />ESTABLISHING SPEED ZONES. COUNCILMEMBER DOBEL SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />The City Administrator informed the City Council that the City's <br />health insurance provider has increased their premiums 35%. He <br />indicated that. due to this increase. the City has elected to go <br />out for bids for health insurance coverage. <br /> <br />11.10 The City Administrator informed the Council that the first meeting <br />in July would fall on July 3rd. It was the consensus of the City <br />Council to not hold a meeting on July 3rd. <br /> <br />11.11 The City Administrator requested that the <br />proclamation proclaiming June 17-23 as Miss <br />recognizing Suzanne Mikols as Miss Elk River. <br /> <br />12. <br /> <br />Council adopt a <br />Elk River week <br /> <br />OOUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO ADOPT A PROCLAMATION PROCLAIMING <br />JUNE 17-23 AS MISS ELK RIVER WEEK. COUNCILMEMBER KROPUENSKE <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED 5-0. <br /> <br />Adjournment <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />There being no further business. COUNCILMEMBER KROPUENSKE MOVED TO <br />ADJOURN THE MEETING OF THE ELK RIVER CITY COUNCIL. COUNCILMEMBER DOB1U.. <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br />
