Page 6 Elk River City Council Minutes June 5. 1989 e 11.5 The City Administrator informed the Council that he had met with Dr. Flannery regarding the City and the School District working together on the expansion of the public works garage. He indicated that he and Dr. Flannery have been analyzing the finances for the project and it appears that they are very close to an acceptable proposal. 11.6 11.7 11.8 e 11.9 The City Administrator informed the Council that the City Economic Development Coordinator is requesting authorization to place an Elk River ad in the Real Estate Journal for $400. It was the consensus of the Council to authorize the placement of the ad in the Real Estate Journal. The City Administrator informed the Council that he had met with Carol Carlson and had discussed the possibility of her working on a consultant basis as a personnel coordinator with the City of Elk River. He indicated that he would like to hire Ms. Carlson as a one year contract employee for this position. The City Administrator informed the Council that the Police Chief had received a petition from Mr. Steve Theis regarding speeding on Fillmore Street. 175th Avenue. 173rd Avenue and Tyler Street. He indicated that the petition consisted of 24 signatures and that the request is for a speed study to be done. OOUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 89-38. A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE COMMISSIONER OF TRANSPORTATION TO STUDY CERTAIN ROADS IN THE CITY OF ELK RIVER FOR THE PURPOSE OF ESTABLISHING SPEED ZONES. COUNCILMEMBER DOBEL SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. The City Administrator informed the City Council that the City's health insurance provider has increased their premiums 35%. He indicated that. due to this increase. the City has elected to go out for bids for health insurance coverage. 11.10 The City Administrator informed the Council that the first meeting in July would fall on July 3rd. It was the consensus of the City Council to not hold a meeting on July 3rd. 11.11 The City Administrator requested that the proclamation proclaiming June 17-23 as Miss recognizing Suzanne Mikols as Miss Elk River. 12. Council adopt a Elk River week OOUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO ADOPT A PROCLAMATION PROCLAIMING JUNE 17-23 AS MISS ELK RIVER WEEK. COUNCILMEMBER KROPUENSKE SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED 5-0.
