Police Chief Zerwas <br /> <br />Police Chief Zerwas indicated that he is requesting that the Council hire <br />three Community Service Officers as opposed to the usually hired summer <br />bicycle patrols. He indicated that he is requesting that the Council <br />hire two part-time CSO's at 30 hours per week. and one part-time CSO at <br />20 hours per week. He stated that the CSO's will have more authority <br />than the bicycle patrols in that they will be able to enforce parking <br />ordinance violations and animal control. He stated that he is requesting <br />a pay range of $4.50 to $5.50 per hour. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER KROPUENSKE MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE HIRING OF TWO PART-TIME <br />COMMUNITY SERVICE OFFICERS AT 30 HOURS PER WEEK. AND ONE PART-TIME CSO AT <br />20 HOURS PER WEEK WITH A SALARY RANGE OF $4.50 TO $5.50 PER HOUR TO BEGIN <br />THE LAST WEEK IN MAY. COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN SECONDED THE MOTION. THE <br />MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />9.5. Councilmember Schuldt <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Councilmember Schuldt discussed with the Council the visibility problem <br />created by the softball lights. He indicated that he would like a <br />lighting expert at the site to determine what can be done about the <br />problem. Police Chief Zerwas indicated that he is concerned with the <br />light shinning on Orono Road and Highway 10. It was the consensus of the <br />Council that Councilmember Schuldt and Police Chief Zerwas meet with the <br />lighting consultant. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schuldt indicated that before the Planning Commission this <br />week would be request for mini-storage on 192nd Avenue. He indicated <br />that he was under the impression that mini-storage areas were allowed <br />only in apartment areas. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schuldt indicated to the Council that Pro Motors had just <br />received a conditional use permit for used cars. He indicated that the <br />cars are parked on the street and that they should not be on the street <br />but in the parking area. Councilmember Kropuenske suggested that when <br />the conditional use permits are reviewed in the future that the Council <br />look at the density. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schuldt indicated that Cameo Alley located on Jackson <br />Avenue has a sign on the Boulevard. Councilmember Schuldt requested that <br />this be taken care of as the sign should not be on the Boulevard. <br />9.6. Mayor Tra11e <br /> <br />Mayor Tra1le informed the Council that a $5.000 grant for the railroad <br />trail looks good and will possibly be approved soon. <br /> <br />e <br />
