THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kropuenske stated that he would like to see all Fire <br />Department personnel have annual physicals. <br /> <br />7. General Discussion with Staff on Current Activities <br /> <br />STREET DEPARTMENT <br /> <br />Phil Hals updated the Council on boulevard tree plantings. He also <br />indicated that he attended a seminar on vehicle maintenance and turf <br />management. both of which he found to be very informative. <br /> <br />FINANCE <br /> <br />Lori Johnson. informed the Council that an error had been made in pay <br />estimate Hi for the 165th Street project. She. therefore. requested that <br />Council pass another motion authorizing the payment of an additional <br />$2.050.00 to Bauerly Brothers. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER DOBEt MOVED TO APPROVE AN ADDITON TO PARTIAL PAY ESTIMATE <br />fF1 TO BAUERLY BROTHERS IN THE AMOUNT OF $2.050.00. COUNCILMEMBER <br />HOLMGREN SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />Lori Johnson informed the Council that the League of Minnesota Cities <br />contacted her regarding tax reform discussions taking place at the <br />legislature. Because of increases in the City's 1989 Local Government <br />Aid and levy. we are being cited as an example by the Legislature of the <br />increasing tax burden being placed on tax payers. Lori Johnson stated <br />she explained the reasons for the increase. the 16.5% increase in <br />households and two levy limit appeals. and further explained the uses for <br />the increased revenues such as increased public safety personnel and <br />continued infrastructure replacement. The League of Minnesota Cities <br />will use this information to testify in front of the Legislature and <br />encouraged the City to express it's concerns to our Legislators. Lori <br />Johnson stated she will send a letter to Senator Davis and Representative <br />Bauerly. <br /> <br />Administration <br /> <br />Sandy Thackeray. Deputy City Clerk. updated the Council on administration <br />activities planned for March which consist of word processor training. <br />Tyler /Knollwood projects. City Code update. minute indexing on the <br />computer. a Clerk's conference. and updating of project files. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Liquor Store <br /> <br />Fritz Dolejs. Liquor Store Manager. informed the Council that the cooler <br />has been completed. He also informed the Council that he believes sales <br />for the liquor store have peaked. He indicated that a second scanning <br />register is being added and he is receiving quotes on stuccoing. seal <br />coating. and lighting improvements. <br />
